This paper analyzes Korean-American writer Kim Joo-hye's Beasts of a Little Land by applying Jean-Luc Nancy's theory of ‘community of inaction’. It depicts the characteristics of the Korean Peninsula community that individuals sought to form in the turbulent Korean Peninsula, which went from the Japanese colonial period to the Korean War. It elaborately presents the incomplete nature and elasticity of 'I' and 'We' in the Gisaeng (Korean geisha) group represented by Eun-sil, Dan-i, Ok-hee, etc., and the relationship with Myeong-ho, Ok-hee, etc., centered on Jeong-ho, a descendant of a tiger hunter family. It also shows the situation of an outsider without a fixed center, the contrast/opposition between intellectuals Myeong-bo and Seong-su, and the aspects of the luxurious tastes of Japanese aristocrats who are absorbed in the desires of rulers in the gap. The introduction deals with the meaning of the tiger symbol and points out the basis of the Korean Peninsula sentiment that dominates this work. In the main text, through the analysis of the character types, we demonstrate the process by which each individual reaches the non-actional sense of community of the Korean people. The concepts of ‘co-in-existence’ and ‘existence’ drive the fusion of independent characters in the narrative context of the Korean Peninsula. The characters reach a ‘co-in-existence’ in which individuals stand in solidarity with each other, or traverse the middle of history by sharing the tasks [missions] of individuals and communities. Their relationship structure has a motility that not only affects but is also affected from ‘me’ (single-handedness, individual) to the others, and the others to ‘me,’ or ‘me’ to the community, and the community to ‘me.’

(BEASTS OF A LITTLE LAND)1)을 장-뤽 낭시(Jean-Luc Nancy)의 ‘무위의 공동체’론을 적용하 여 분석하였다.
