School magazine is a material that distinguishes it from other continuous publication media, showing the perspectives of various subjects based on the school, and is special in that the reader is a student. In addition, since school paper is published based on the area in which the school is located, it is characterized by continuous publication of articles about the area. Such articles could have a certain influence on students who are readers of the school magazine. In this respect, the material value of school magazine can be reaffirmed. Jeonbuk Province was a region that suffered controversy due to the “Hawaii Dispute” in the 1950s, the “Jeonbuk Poor Treatment” in the 1960s, and the expectations for the development of “Backward Jeonbuk” in the 1970s. While various media in the local community raised their voices due to these events, the school magazine continued to contain articles reflecting interest in the local tradition and locality rather than reacting sensitively to the current. In particular, local school magazines in Jeonbuk showed special interest in local history. Although the history of Mahan and Baekje has not been treated as the mainstream in official history, articles emphasizing that it is a proud “Our” history and showing that it is not lagging behind the history of Silla were published in the school magazines. And during the Imjin War, they boasted the activities of Honam righteous army. Above all, the Jeonbuk region emphasized that the local people emotionally share an important historical event called the Donghak Peasant Movement. Jeonbuk Province was an area that shared the image as a traditional Agricultural Region and the perception of being backward and marginalized. The Honam Expressway, which opened at the end of 1970, was an important opportunity and a starting point for development. After the opening of the Honam Expressway, articles containing expectations for the development of the local community appeared in the school magazines. The school cannot be disconnected from the area where the school is located. The local community and the school were inextricably linked, which is why the school magazine was able to contain articles on various topics related to the locality.

교지는 다른 연속간행물 매체들과 변별성을 갖는 자료로서, 학교를 기반으로 한 여러 주체들의 시각을 보여 주고 독자가 학생이라는 점에서 특별한 자료이다. 또한 교지는 학교가 소재한 지역에 기반하여 발간되기 때문에 지역에 관한 글이 지속적으로 게재된다는 특징이 있다. 이와 같은 글들은 교지의 독자인 학생들에게 일정한 영향을 미칠 수 있었다. 그런 점에서 교지의 자료적 가치를 재확인할 수 있고 교지자료가 지역성 연구에서 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구의 대상 지역인 전북은 1950년대의 ‘하와이 시비’, 1960년대의 ‘전북푸대접론’, 1970년대 ‘낙후 전북’의 개발에 대한 기대감 등으로 부침을 겪었던 지역이다. 이와 같은 사건들로 인해 지역사회의 각종 매체가 소리를 높였던 반면에 교지에는 시류에 민감하게 반응하기보다 지역의 전통과 향토 등에 대한 관심을 반영한 글들이 지속적으로 실렸다. 특히 전북 지역 교지에는 지역사에 대한 관심이 특별하게 나타났다. 지역사를 통해 학생들의 지역 정체성을 정립하려는 시도였다. 마한과 백제의 역사가 정사에서 비록 주류로 다뤄지지 못하고 있지만, 자랑스러운 ‘우리’의 역사임을 강조하고 신라의 역사에 뒤처지지 않는다는 것을 보여 주는 글들이 교지에 실렸다. 또한 임진왜란 시기 호남 의병의 활약을 자랑하고, 무엇보다 전북 지역은 동학농민운동이라는 역사적 대사건을 지역민들이 감정적으로 공유하고 있다는 것을 강조했다. 전북은 전통적인 농도로서의 이미지와 함께 낙후되고 소외받았다는 인식을 공유하는 지역이었다. 1960년대의 사회적 논쟁을 통해 ‘푸대접’받았다는 불만을 안고 있었다. 1970년 말 개통된 호남고속도로는 이러한 불만에 대한 대가이자 발전의 기점이 될 수 있는 중요한 계기였다. 호남고속도로의 개통 이후 교지에도 지역사회의 개발에 대한 기대감을 담은 글이 등장했다. 지역사회와 학교의 관계, 그리고 그와 관련된 학교의 역할과 임무 등에 관한 진지한 고민들이 교지에 담겼다. 학교는 그 학교가 소재한 지역과 단절될 수 없다. 지역사회와 학교는 불가분의 관계였고, 그렇기 때문에 교지에는 지역성이 담긴 다양한 주제의 글들이 실릴 수 있었다.
