“The fear of the LORD is the foundation of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7). We ask God for wisdom in our life of faith. And when we talk about wisdom, we cannot leave out Proverbs. But that wisdom speaks not only in the book of Proverbs, but also in many places in the Bible, referring to the blessed life and suffering of a good man, and wisdom at the end of the interlocking of the blessings and sufferings of that life. In particular, the Psalms devote a large number of chapters to wisdom, and we can find that Psalm 1 and Proverbs 2, which are divided into wisdom poems, have the same structure. Strategically placed to inspire faith and to give God's answers, instruction, and faith to the community in the context of post-exile suffering, the Psalms begin in the first section with the instruction of the fear of God and declare that blessed are the ones who build themselves and the community by continuing to practice charity and righteousness through the voluntary practice of the law that comes out of the fear of God. The wisdom of Proverbs also speaks of the importance of prioritizing the fear of the Lord and the horizontal dimension of life, our relationship with others and the natural world. In other words, the purpose of the wise is to fear and fellowship with the Lord, and to build families and communities in the form of practicing justice and righteousness with the fear of Jehovah and prudence, which is the practical wisdom derived from the fear of Jehovah. As shown above, the theme and purpose of Psalm 1 and Proverbs 2 are the same. In other words, building faith, families, and communities in the fear of the Lord is the wisdom that Israel and its communities have sought.

‘여호와를 경외하는 것이 지식의 근본 이어늘 미련한 자는 지혜와 훈계를 멸시하느니라 (잠언 1장 7절) 우리는 신앙의 삶에서 하나님께 지혜를 구한다. 그리고 그 지혜를 이야기 할 때 잠언을 빼놓을 수 없다. 그러나 그 지혜는 잠언에서 뿐만 아니라 성경의 많은 부분에서 선한 사람의 복된 삶과 고난을 말하며 그 삶의 복과 고난의 맞물림 끝에 지혜를 말한다. 특히 시편은 많은 편수를 할애하여 지혜를 말하고 있으며 지혜시로 구분된 시편1편과 잠언 2장은 그 구조가 같은 것을 발견할 수 있다. 포로 후기 고난 의 상황에서 공동체에게 하나님의 응답과 교훈을 주며 신앙을 고취하기 위해 전략적으로 배치 되었된 시편은 그 시작인 1편에서 하나님을 경외할 것을 교 훈하며, 하나님 경외에서 나오는 자발적 율법의 실천으로 인애와 의를 계속해 서 행함으로 자신과 공동체를 세우는 자가 복있는 자이며 지혜로운 자임을 피 력한다. 잠언의 지혜 또한 여호와 경외를 우선하고 삶의 수평적 차원인 타인이나 자연세계와의 관계의 중요성을 말한다. 즉 지혜자는 여호와를 경외하고 교제 하며 여호와 경외를 통해 시작되는 경외와 거기서 파생되는 실천적 지혜인 신 중함을 가지고 공의와 의를 실천하는 모습으로 가정과 공동체를 세우는데 그 목적이 있다. 위와 같이 시편 1편과 잠언 2장의 주제와 목적은 한결같다. 즉 여호와를 경 외함으로 신앙과 가정과 공동체를 세우는 것이 이스라엘과 그 공동체들이 추 구해온 그들의 지혜이다.
