This study attempted to confirm whether implicit narcissism affects depression of university students, and whether rejection sensitivity and displaced aggression sequentially mediate in the process. To this end, online survey was conducted on 339 university students enrolled in a four-year university in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province. And among the collected data, data from 276 students, excluding non-response and insincere responses, were used for anlaysis. To confirm the sequential mediation effect, the structural equation model was analyzed using AMOS 23.0 program. The results of the study are as follows. First, the correlations between implicit narcissism, rejection sensitivity, displaced aggression, and depression were all found to be significant. Second, the direct paths between implicit narcissism, rejection sensitivity, displaced aggression, and depression were all found to be significant, except for the path through which rejection sensitivity affects depression. Third, the simple mediation effect of implicit narcissism influencing university students’ depression through displaced aggression was found to be significant. Fourth, it was confirmed that the sequential mediating effect of rejection sensitivity and displaced aggression was significant in the process of implicit narcissism affecting the depression of university students. These results provide clinical implications on how to intervene in university counseling settings with the students who complain of depressive problems caused by implicit narcissism. It reveals that there is a need to help them properly interpret the intentions of others without distorting them, and in particular, it suggests that a process is needed to help resolve conflicts through a direct communication process with the object without predisposing the aggression caused by hypersensitivity to the rejection clue. Finally, based on the main findings of this study, limitations were discussed and recommendations for follow-up research were presented.

본 연구에서는 내현적 자기애 성향이 대학생의 우울에 영향을 미치는지, 그리고 그 과 정에서 거부민감성과 전위공격성이 순차적으로 매개하는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대구 경북 지역 4년제 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생 339명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조 사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료 중 무응답 및 불성실 응답을 제외한 276명의 자료를 분석 에 사용하였다. 순차적 매개효과를 확인하기 위해 AMOS 23.0 프로그램을 사용하여 구조 방정식 모형을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내현적 자기애, 거부민감성, 전위공격성, 우울 간 상관 이 모두 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 거부민감성이 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로를 제외 하고 내현적 자기애, 거부민감성, 전위공격성, 우울 간의 직접 경로가 모두 유의한 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애가 전위공격성을 통해 대학생의 우울에 영향을 미치는 단순매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 내현적 자기애가 대학생의 우울에 영향 을 미치는 과정에서 거부민감성과 전위공격성의 순차적 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 확인 되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 대학 상담 장면에서 내현적 자기애 성향으로 인해 촉발된 우울 문 제를 호소하는 대학생에게 어떻게 개입해야 할지 임상적 시사점을 제공한다. 이들이 타 인의 의도를 왜곡하지 않고 적절하게 해석하도록 도울 필요가 있음을 드러내며, 특히 거 부 단서에 대한 과민성으로 인해 유발된 공격성을 전치시키지 않고 직접적인 소통 과정을 통해 갈등을 해결할 수 있도록 돕는 과정이 필요함을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 주 요 연구 결과를 바탕으로 제한점에 대해 논의하였으며, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.
