The diffusion of autonomous driving technology is bringing about qualitative changes in the economic, social, and policy domains. This paper aims to explore the factors affecting the diffusion of autonomous vehicles from the perspective of an Integrated Innovation Model that holistically approaches technology innovation and innovation in the economic, social, and policy domains. As autonomous vehicles are social goods, the diffusion of autonomous vehicles at the level of the entire societal system is more important than the diffusion at the individual level. Therefore, we applied the diffusion factors suggested by the Integrated Innovation Model from a macro perspective to the case of autonomous vehicles to analyze their association. From an Integrated Innovation perspective, the implications of exploring the factors for the spread of autonomous vehicles are that it is necessary to development of objective and specific laws and systems to secure technical safety, the installation and management of facilities and infrastructure necessary for safe operation, and the expansion of demonstration and regulatory exemptions. On the other hand, this paper contributes to the elaboration of an integrated innovation model in theory and provides policy ideas for autonomous vehicles in policy. However, there are limitations, such as the lack of comparisons with overseas cases, which we hope to complement through further research. We hope that this paper will stimulate interest and discussion on practical policy alternatives for the spread of autonomous vehicles.

자율주행기술은 미래 모빌리티의 패러다임을 바꿀 것으로 주목되고 있다. 이 논문은 자율주행기술 확산에 영향을 미치는 요인을 통합혁신모형 관점에서 탐색하였다. 사회적 재화로서 자율주행차는 개인 수준의 확산보다 전체 사회시스템 수준의 확산이 주목된다. 기술적 요인과 정책적 요인이 자율주행차 확산과 직접 연관성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 기술적 요인 중 혁신성은 자율주행차의 안전성을 뜻하며 이는 이용자 신뢰 확보를 의미 한다. 정책적 요인은 자율주행차 운행에 요구되는 법·제도 제·개정과 정책 당국의 의지 가 포함되었다. 통합혁신 관점의 자율주행차 확산요인 탐색을 통한 시사점은 기술적 안 전성을 확보할 수 있는 법·제도 정비, 인프라와 실증 및 규제특례 등에 대한 정책 수단 마련 등이 필요하다. 한편, 이 논문은 이론적으로 통합혁신모형의 정교화에 기여하고, 정책적으로 자율주행차 관련 정책 아이디어를 제공하는 데 기여한다. 그러나 해외 사례 와의 직접 비교의 어려움 등 한계가 있어 이는 후속 연구를 통해 보완하고자 한다. 이 논문을 계기로 자율주행차 확산에 대한 관심과 실질적인 정책대안 논의가 활발해지 기를 기대한다.
