This study is a follow-up study of a review paper written to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the publication of the journal in 2020, and the subject classification was updated by conducting a content analysis to mark the 10th anniversary of the publication of the journal. In order to promote research in the franchising field and suggest promising research topics in the future, this study first classifies research topics in the franchise field, reviews studies published in the Journal of Franchising in accordance with this classification, and then presents topics that have been used or lacking in research. According to the results of classifying a total of 89 papers from the August 2015 issue of the Journal of Franchising to the most recent November 2023 issue, there were 17 studies on the characteristics of the franchise headquarters, accounting for 19.1% of all published papers. There were 6 papers on the characteristics of franchisors, 7 papers on contract characteristics, 14 papers on relationship characteristics, 15.7% or 29.6% on franchising strategy, 14 papers on franchise industry and policy, and 2 papers on research trends, 2.2%. This study introduced an overview of papers by subject to increase the utilization of researchers in future research and suggested promising topics for future franchising research.

본 연구는 2020년 학술지 발간 5주년을 기념하여 작성된 리뷰논문의 후속연구로서 학술지 발간 10주 년을 맞이 하여 내용분석을 실시하여 주제분류를 갱신하였다. 본 연구는 프랜차이징 분야의 연구를 촉진 하고 향후 유망한 연구주제를 제시하기 위해 먼저 프랜차이징 분야의 연구주제를 재분류하고, 이 분류에 따라 프랜차이징저널(Journal of Franchising)에 게재된 논문들을 검토한 후, 그동안 연구가 활발했거나 부 족했던 주제에 대하여 논하였다. 프랜차이징저널 창간호인 2015년 8월호부터 가장 최근인 2023년 11월호까지 수록된 논문 총89편 에 대하여 7개 주제별로 분류한 결과, 가맹본부 특성에 관한 연구는 총17편으로 전체 게재논문의 19.1%를 차지하였으며, 가맹점사업자특성에 관한 논문은 6.7%인 6편, 계약특성에 관한 논문은 7.9% 인 7편, 관계특성에 관한 논문은 15.7%인 14편, 프랜차이즈 전략에 관한 논문은 32.6%인 29편, 그리 고 프랜차이즈산업 및 정책에 관한 연구는 15.7%인 14편, 그리고 연구동향 논문은 2.2%인 2편으로 집계되었다. 본 연구는 연구자들의 향후 연구에 활용도를 높이고자 주제별로 논문들 개요를 소개하였으며, 미 래 프랜차이즈 연구에 유망한 주제들을 제시하고자 하였다.
