This study was designed to determine how youth gambling experience is associated with criminal offending and criminal victimization. The research design was utilizing a perception survey, and the analysis focused on the level of perception of the association of youth gambling experience with crime-related behaviors (drugs, sexual exploitation, fraud, theft, addiction). First, we divided youth gambling experience into three groups to determine differences in perceptions of its association with crime-related behaviors. The results showed that the high-risk group had higher perceptions of the association with sexual exploitation, addiction, and drugs than the other groups, and the differences were significant. The regression results also showed that the frequency of gambling experience in adolescence significantly influenced perceptions of sexual exploitation, fraud, and theft. These findings suggest that it is time for policy to consider how adolescent gambling experiences should be addressed not only in terms of prevention and education, but also in terms of protection and redress in the event of criminalization or victimization. Macro-level policy recommendations are outlined utilizing the findings, and the need for further research is noted.

이 연구는 청소년 도박 경험이 범죄 가해와 범죄 피해에 어떠한 연관성이 있는지 파악하는 것을 목적으로 설계되었다. 연구설계는 인식조사를 중심으로 실시되었으며, 범죄와 관련된 행위(마약, 성착취, 사기, 절도, 중독)와 청소년 도박 경험이 얼마나 연관성이 있는지에 대한 인식수준을 중심으로 분석되었다. 먼저, 청소년 도박 경험을 3개 집단으로 구분해 범죄관련 행위와 연관성이 있는지에 대한 인식 수준의 차이를 확인했다. 그 결과 고위험집단이 다른 집단에 비해 성착취, 중독, 마약 연관성에 대해서 더 높게 인식하게되며 그 차이가 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 회귀분석 결과에서는 청소년기 도박 경험 빈도가 성착취, 사기 및 절도 가 해 경험을 높인다는 인식에 유의미한 영향을 미친다는 결과도 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결 과를 바탕으로 청소년기 도박 경험에 대한 정책이 예방과 교육의 차원에서 다룰 것이 아니라 범죄 가해 또는 피해 상황에서 어떻게 보호되고 구제되어야 할지에 대해 실질적인 검토가 필 요한 단계임을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 거시적인 정책제언을 기술했으며, 후속 연구의 필요성에 대해 언급했다.
