The purpose of this study is to gain insight into the composition and expression system of Bae Myung-kyun Sanjo Dance by grasping the occurrence and development patterns of modern and contemporary Sanjo Dance. Literature review and analysis of previous studies were conducted as a research method for this, and intensive interviews were conducted with Hwang Hee-yeon, a direct disciple, as a way to compensate for the lack of previous studies. Bae Myung-kyun's Sanjo dance constitutes a unique dance that expands the range of expression around each part of the body based on the understanding of Sanjo music that accommodates various rhythms. As a result of analyzing the expression system, first, synesthesia based on understanding of music, second, descriptive techniques of pictorial image and visual expression, third, it is presented as a narrative structure added to the imaging of inner images. In addition, the completion of the form has improved artistry with an aesthetic characteristic that emphasizes that human inner beauty should be the basis. Based on the results of this study, which interpreted the composition and expression system of Bae Myung-kyun Sanjo Dance, we hope that research on illuminating the art world of Bae Myung-kyun will continue, and further progress into research on exploring the characteristics and artistic values of various Korean Sanjo dances.

이 연구는 근현대 산조춤의 발생과 전개 양상을 파악하여 배명균 산조춤의 구성과 표현체계를 통찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위한 연구방법으로 문헌고찰 및 선행연구 분석을 진행하였으며 선행연구의 부족을 보완하 는 방법으로 직계제자 황희연과 집중면담을 진행하였다. 배명균의 산조춤은 다양한 장단을 수용한 산조 음악의 이해에 기반하여 신체의 각 부분을 중심으로 표현 범위를 확장하는 독창적인 춤사위를 구성한다. 이에 표현체 계를 분석한 결과 첫째, 음악의 이해에 기반한 공감각적 표현 둘째, 회화적 이미지와 시각적 표현의 묘사적 기 법 셋째, 내면적 심상의 이미지화에 더한 서사적 구조로 제시된다. 더불어 형의 완성은 인간의 내적 아름다움 이 기반이 되어야 함을 강조하는 미적 특성으로 예술성을 제고(提高)하였다. 배명균 산조춤의 구성과 표현체계 를 통시한 이 연구결과를 토대로 배명균의 예술세계를 조명하는 연구가 지속되길 바라며 나아가 다양한 한국 산조춤의 특성과 예술적 가치 탐구의 연구로 진보되기를 기대한다.
