Toegye Yi Hwang served as Danyang-gun, Chungcheong-do from January to September 1548, and moved to Punggi-gun, Gyeongsang-do in October of that year. During his short tenure, Danyang County Governor Toegye suffered the sadness of his second son dying just a month after his appointment. Toegye's life as Danyang-gun governor made all-out efforts to relieve drought and hunger in Danyang. In 1548, the right politics were carried out against the people of Danyang-gun, which was like a litmus test paper confirming Toegye's character and the identity of Toegyehak. However, after Toegye Yi Hwang's death, there was a narrative that Danyang County Governor Toegye Yi Hwang fell in love with Danyang's gisaeng Doohyang, which was also used as a subject for novels, investigations, and academic books. There is clearly a problem in that it is a different story from Toegye's knowledge and life, and Toegye's identity. Danyang-gun has held a Doohyang Festival every year since 1987, and 30 years later in 2017, a storytelling park based on Toegye-Doohyang narrative was created on the Janghoe-Naru Hill in Danyang. However, it is not natural that the love story about Toegye is irresponsibly circulated in the name of a local festival and in the name of the cultural industry.
