As of 2025, the Korean community in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, South America, will celebrate its 60th anniversary of immigration, and the Korean community in Ciudad del Este, a border town in Paraguay, will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the formation process, current status, and differences of the Korean community in Paraguay. Korean immigrants settled in the capital and the border city in 1965 and 1975, respectively. Depending on the city’s special characteristics, it influenced the formation of the Korean communities and the lifestyle of immigrants. Additionally, Paraguay is a landlocked country and was affected by the economic conditions of Argentina and Brazil, which form its borders. Therefore, taking this into consideration, the socio-economic and cultural aspects of the Korean communities were compared. And the relationship with the motherland today was examined.

2025년 기준 남미 파라과이의 수도 아순시온(Asunción)의 한인동포사회는 이 민 60주년 그리고 파라과이의 국경도시 시우닷 델 에스떼(Ciudad del Este)의 한 인사회는 50주년을 맞이한다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 남미 파라과이 한인사회 의 형성과정, 현황과 차이점을 서술하는데 있다. 한인 이민자들은 1965년과 1975년에 각각 수도와 국경도시에 정착했다. 도시 의 특수한 점에 따라 한인사회의 형성과 이민자의 생활방식에 영향을 끼쳤다. 또 한, 파라과이는 육지로 둘러싸인 내륙국가로 국경을 형성하는 아르헨티나와 브라 질의 경제상황에 영향을 받았다. 그리하여 이를 고려하여 한인사회의 사회·경제 적 및 문화적 측면을 비교하였다. 그리고 오늘날 모국과의 관계를 살펴보았다.
