The main purpose of this paper is to examine the current status of summer school programs in Korea by examining the most recent summer school programs in each university. To this end, this study selected eight summer schools from metropolitan universities and four regional national universities as of 2023, and investigated the current status of Korean culture-related classes and field trips through internet searches and interviews with stakeholders. In addition, based on previous studies that have already identified the needs of previous attendees and the results of satisfaction surveys conducted by a university, I checked whether the cultural classes offered by the current summer schools are customer-oriented. Among the Korean culture-related classes offered by the surveyed universities, classes on traditional Korean culture, popular culture, and history are in line with the needs of the students, but few or no schools offer other types of cultural classes that students want, such as Korean cuisine and taekwondo. Korean cuisine and taekwondo classes were identified as having limitations that made it difficult to provide demand-driven education due to the lack of appropriate facilities and English-speaking instructors. Even when selecting locations for field trips related to Korean culture, Jeju and Busan, which are desired by students, are often excluded due to cost and management issues due to their remoteness, and the locations are often selected solely for the convenience of the university. This study not only provides universities with information on the current status of other universities' summer school programs, but it is also expected to help them set a better direction for Korean culture education in the future.

본 논문은 가장 최근의 각 대학별 썸머스쿨 운영 현황을 살펴봄으로써 현재 썸머스쿨에서 이루어지는 한 국문화 관련 수업과 필드트립이 어떠한 식으로 진행되는지 알아보고자 하는 데에 주 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 본 연 구에서는 2023년 기준 수도권 대학 8개와 지방 국립대 4개 대학의 썸머스쿨을 선정하고 인터넷 검색과 관계자 인 터뷰를 통해 한국문화 관련 수업과 한국문화 관련 필드트립의 운영 현황을 조사하였다. 또 이미 수요자의 요구를 파악한 기존의 선행연구와 모 대학에서 실시한 만족도 조사 결과를 토대로 지금의 썸머스쿨이 제공하는 문화수업 이 수요자 중심의 운영으로 이루어지고 있는지를 확인하였다. 조사 대학들이 제공하는 한국문화 관련 수업들 중 한 국 전통문화, 대중문화, 역사에 대한 수업은 수요자들의 요구와 일치하는 수업들이지만, 한국요리나 태권도 등 학생 들이 원하는 또 다른 류의 문화수업은 제공하는 학교가 적거나 없었다. 한국요리와 태권도 수업 등은 적절한 시설 과 영어 가능 강사의 부족 등으로 인해 수요자 중심의 교육이 이루어지기 힘든 한계를 지닌 것으로 파악되었다. 한 국문화 관련 필드트립 장소 선정에 있어서도 수요자가 원하는 제주와 부산 등은 원거리로 인한 비용과 관리 등의 문제로 제외되는 경우가 많아, 오로지 대학의 운영상의 편의를 위해 장소 선정이 이루어지는 경우가 많았다. 본 연 구는 각 대학들에게 타 대학의 썸머스쿨 운영 현황에 대한 정보를 제공할 뿐만 아니라, 이를 통해 향후 썸머스쿨의 한국문화 교육이 나아가야 할 보다 발전적인 방향 설정에 있어 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
