The purpose of this research is to explore why Korean intermediate and advanced-level learners could not achieve their search goals in their dictionary search mission. Materials used for this research are recorded files, sheets of a week's worth of dictionary apps, and vocabulary search activities on the internet, collected from 11 students majoring in Japanese language at K University in Korea. Results revealed that some students could not search successfully mainly due to the content of the dictionary and their search strategies. The main problems with the dictionary content were insufficient dictionary meanings and example sentences, and no information on how to use synonyms. By contrast, the problems with the learners' search strategies included mistakes in selecting search resources and input words. To solve the problems of the dictionary content, it is necessary to improve the dictionary content and system for learners, which is different from the language dictionary for Japanese general users. To minimize the problem of the learners' search strategies, I believe it is necessary to guide the dictionary search strategy in the field of Japanese language education. More specifically, it is encouraged to include from the internet various learners' dictionaries and learning blogs about how to search efficiently, i.e. use which words, expressions search resources for the purpose of search.

본 연구는 한국인 중급･고급 학습자의 사전검색 행동을 살펴보고, 검색 목적이 달성 되지 못한 검색어의 원인을 밝혔다. 한국 K대학교 일어일문학과 학생 11명을 대상으로 1주일간의 사전 앱이나 인터넷상의 어휘검색행동을 수집한 자료(녹화파일과 기록시트) 를 분석자료로 이용하였다. 먼저 한국 중급･고급 학습자에 의한 사전검색 행동에서 검색 목적이 달성되지 못한 경우의 원인을 살펴보았는데, 사전 내용의 문제와 학습자의 검색 전략의 문제가 판명되 었다. 사전 내용의 문제로는 ‘의미와 예문 부족’과 ‘유의어 용법의 기술 부족’에 의한 것이고, 합쳐서 70％로 대부분을 차지하였다. 학습자의 검색 전략의 문제로는 ‘검색 리 소스의 선택 오류’와 ‘입력어의 오류’로 나뉜다. 다음으로 사전 내용의 문제 해결책으로는 일본인 일반 이용자용 언어사전과는 다른 학습자용 사전 내용과 시스템의 정비가 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 학습자의 검색 전략의 문제 해결책으로는 일본어교육 현장에서 사전검색 전략을 지도할 필요가 있다고 본다. 특히 효율적으로 검색하는 방법, 즉 어떠한 검색 목적의 말과 표현을, 어떠한 검색 리소 스를 이용하면 효율적인지 다양한 인터넷상의 학습자용 사전과 학습 블로그 소개를 포 함하는 것이 장려된다.
