The starting point of this study came from the idea of intriguing and familiarizing learners by developing teaching and learning materials suitable for concept understanding and presenting various experiential activities using them, rather than simply a theoretical approach, in relation to Yulmyeong, a music element and concept that must be learned at 5th to 6th-grade level in elementary school music curriculum. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to device an instructional plan enabling 5th to 6th-grade elementary school students to read Yulmyeong in Chinese characters and understand the relationship between pitches. In order to achieve this goal, improved character cards and multimedia teaching tools were presented as teaching and learning materials that can increase students' interest in learning about Yulmyeong and stimulate intellectual curiosity. In addition, various experiential activities using character cards were proposed. Furthermore, a teaching and learning instructional plan using character cards was designed and implemented in real classroom settings. Based on the outcomes, an improved teaching learning instructional plan for Yulmyeong was devised. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the teaching and learning instructional plan for Yulmyeong using character cards, proposed by this researcher, is ultimately effective in increasing the interest of 5th to 6th-grade elementary school students in Korean traditional music, by extension, in Korean traditional music classes. In that sense, this study is expected to foster a positive impact on the expansion of related research as this instructional plan establishes itself as one of the effective methods of teaching and learning Korean traditional music in the field of school education and becomes a catalyst for the development and research of teaching and learning materials to revitalize Korean traditional music education in the future.

본 연구의 출발점은 음악과 교육과정 안에서 초등학교 5∼6학년 수준에서 반드시 익혀야 하는 음악 요소와 개념인 율명에 대해 단순히 이론적 접근 방식이 아닌, 개념 이해에 적합한 교수ㆍ학습 자료를 개발하고, 이를 활용한 다양한 체험 활동을 제시함으로써 학습자에게 흥 미를 유발하고 친숙하게 다가가기 위한 발상에서 비롯되었다. 본 연구는 초등학교 5∼6학년 학생들이 한자로 쓰인 율명을 읽고, 음높이 상호 간의 관계 를 이해할 수 있게 만드는 지도 방안을 마련하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이의 달성을 위해 율명에 대한 학생들의 학습 흥미도를 높이고 지적 호기심을 자극할 수 있는 교수ㆍ학습 자료로서 개선된 캐릭터 카드와 멀티미디어 교구를 제시하였고, 캐릭터 카드를 활용한 다양한 체험 활동을 제안하였다. 또한 캐릭터 카드를 활용한 교수ㆍ학습 지도안을 설계하여 실제 수업에 적용한 후, 그 결과를 토대로 재차 개선된 율명의 교수ㆍ학습 지도안을 구상하였다. 그 결과 본 연구자에 의해 제안된 캐릭터 카드를 활용한 율명의 교수ㆍ학습 지도 방안이 궁극적으로 초등학교 5∼6학년 학생들의 국악에 대한 흥미도, 나아가 국악 수업에 대한 흥미 도를 높이는 데 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 지도 방안이 학교 교육의 현장에서 효과적 인 국악 교수ㆍ학습 방법의 하나로 정립되고, 향후 국악 교육 활성화를 위한 교수ㆍ학습 자료 개발 및 연구에 촉매제가 되어 관련 연구의 확장에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있게 되기를 바란다.
