This article focuses on compassion for human-becoming in the post-human age. Humans have become posthumans who have surpassed the limits of biological human beings due to the revolution in digital technology and science and technology. In the posthuman age, posthumans still have an anthropocentric worldview and a rationalistic value system, which leads to dualistic thinking and separation, a phenomenon of downplaying the Sacred, a phenomenon of holistic self-separation, and a phenomenon of objectification and otherization. That's why in the posthuman age, humans experience suffering, and that overwhelming suffering extends beyond ourselves to others, to nature, and to other living things. Therefore, this article proposes compassion-cultivation education for human-becoming of the new posthumans born of digital technology and science and technology. Compassion allows us to critically reflect on anthropocentric worldviews and dualistic thinking and leads to a relationship of entanglement. Especially for human-becoming in the posthuman age, the four elements of awareness, understanding, connectedness, and action are considered as the most essential elements of cultivating compassion. They enable us to connect with the Sacred in a world that belittles the sacred reality: recognizing, understanding, uniting with, and practicing for God. In addition, compassion overcomes the separation of the holistic self from the Sacred as the source of compassion, and leads restoration to the subjective self. Moreover, compassion is recognizing the existence of others and other living beings, understanding them, connecting with their sacredness, and participating in their suffering through a life of compassion. Thus, cultivating compassion becomes the education for connectedness with the Sacred, subjective self-discovery, and participating in the suffering of others.

본 논문은 포스트휴먼 시대의 인간됨을 위한 연민교육을 연구한다. 인간은 디지털 기술과 과학기술의 혁명으로 생물학적 인간의 한계를 뛰어넘은 포스트휴먼이 되었다. 포스트휴먼 시대의 포스트휴먼은 여전히 인간중심적인 세계관과 이성중심적인 가치체 계로 이분법적 사고와 분리로 신성함을 경시하는 현상, 전인적인 자기 분리 현상, 객 관화와 타자화 현상이 일어나고 있다. 이로 인해 포스트휴먼 시대에서 인간은 고통을 경험하고, 그 고통의 과중함으로 자신을 넘어서서 타자, 자연, 다른 생명체에게 고통 을 전가한다. 이에 연구자는 디지털 기술과 과학기술로 태생한 포스트휴먼이라는 새 로운 존재의 인간됨을 위해 연민의 교육을 제안한다. 연민은 인간중심적인 세계관과 이분법적 사고를 비판적으로 성찰하고, 상호 얽힘(entanglement)의 관계로 인도한다. 특별히 포스트휴먼 시대의 인간됨을 위해 인식(awareness), 이해(understanding), 연 합(connectedness), 행함(action) 등의 네 가지 요소는 연민 형성을 위한 가장 핵심요 소이다. 연민을 위한 네 가지의 구성요소는 거룩한 실재를 경시하는 세상 속에서 거룩한 실재와의 연합, 즉 하나님을 인식하고, 이해하며, 연합하고, 향유하며, 연민의 삶 을 실천하게 한다. 또한 연민은 연민의 근원이 되는 거룩한 실재와의 연결적 존재로 전인적인 자기의 분리 현상을 극복하고, 주체적 자기의 회복이 일어나게 한다. 더욱이 연민은 타자와 다른 생명체의 존재를 인식하고, 이해하며, 그 존재들의 신성함에 연합 하고, 연민의 삶으로 타자의 고통에 참여하는 것이다. 이에 연민 교육은 거룩한 실재 와의 연합을 위한 교육, 주체적 자기(Self)발견의 교육, 타자의 고통에 참여하는 교육이 된다.
