In 2023, Korean government announced it policy plan that it would pursue the preservation of provincial cities’ status through regional culture’s development, generating cities with their own regional culture which can attract more population. Such aim can be deemed as the attempt to solve social problem through the value of regional culture. But among all regional-culture elements, the discovery and attraction of historical materials shall be the shortcut for enhancement of regional cultural value. In this study, among regional-history performance contents, that of Jeam-ni massacre — the event having occurred in line with Hwaseong’s independence movement, which had been influenced by March First Independence Movement —, was analyzed. Through this study, Given that, focusing on the musical “The Monuments Differing in Heights”, I revisited the case of Jeamni massacre, and explored how its historical facts were ascertained and were made as the play. Doing so, I reviewed how its musical elements were developed and applied, and how the historical narrations were realized in the stage with limited time and space. With all those, the following conclusions were drawn out. First, the regional-history performance contents do have education values, because they re-interprete narration based on historical ascertaining, making people recognize again about real historical events. Secondly, the production process of those performances needs to be more systemized. That is, I could re-establish the production system by reviewing the process through which the historical performance contents were developed within the frame of general performance production. Thirdly, the processes and results of performances which deal with regional history should be more dataficated. If such datafication is achieved, the continuous development of initially-made performances can be facilitated, by which those works will be able to settle as regional cultural contents. With all those, it is expected that this research shall serve as an important material for groups and individuals who are engaged in performance contents on regional history, by which our historical performance contents can have more globalized effect.

본 연구는 현대사회의 특수성에 기인한 배우의 직업적 정체성에 대해 논의한다. 배우의 연기가 인간 심리를 다루는 예술이란 점에서 그것은 배우의 실연에도 실제적인 영향력을 행사할 뿐만 아니라 단순히 연기론 안에만 국한할 수 없는, 미디어의 발달과 경제 논리의 만연 등 현대사회의 특수성과 밀접한 연관성을 지닌 복합적인 문제이기 때문이다. 즉, 현대 배우의 정체성이란 엔터테인먼트 산업을 배경으로 배우와 관련된 제반 사안들의 상호 영향 아래 생겨난 개념적 결과물로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 거기에 어떤 오류가 존재한다면 이것은 배우의 예술과 삶 모두를 어렵게 만드는, 더 정확히 말해서 배우 스스로 자기 삶과 예술에서 어려운 선택을 종용하는 부정의 기제로 작용할 수 있다. 이런 문제의식에 착안해서 본문은 직업적 정체성과 관련해서 배우의 특수한 의식구조를 논의의 전제로 살펴본 후 ‘성(聖)’과 ‘속(俗)’으로 상징되는 배우 정체성에 내포된 양가성과 현대사회의 특수성에서 기인한 환경적 기제의 영향력을 분석한다. 이를 바탕으로 결론에서는 현대사회에서 창조적 예술가로서의 성장하는데 필요한 배우의 정체성을 새로이 제안한다. 필자는 배우의 직업적 정체성에 관한 본 연구가 ‘메소드’처럼 특정한 방법론을 다루는 기존의 연구만큼이나 배우에게 실제적인 도움을 줄 수 있다고 판단하는데, 배우로 사는 것은 세상에 존재하는 한 방식이며, 배우의 연기는 인식의 방법이자 자기표현의 기술이기 때문이다. 화려한 외양과는 달리 배우란 직업은 부정적인 감정 경험의 척도가 대단히 높은 직업군에 속한다. 결과의 통제가 불가한 실패 상황에 지속해서 노출되면 배우는 학습된 무기력에 따라 후속 수행에 대한 학습 동기를 상실하고, 인지 왜곡과 정서의 손상 그리고 수행의 저하를 경험하여 이후 수행의 향상에 전력하지 않게 된다. 이런 이유에서 현대 배우의 직업적 정체성에 관한 본 연구는 특정한 방법론의 연구만큼이나 연기하는 배우에게 실제적인 가치를 지닌다.
