The purpose of this study was to explore the job stress and coping experiences of professional counselors in elementary school as a narrative inquiry method. To this end, two professional counselors in elementary school with experience in job stress and coping were selected as participants. The data collection method was three in-depth interviews. Even during the analysis of the data, data collection was performed in parallel to confirm the saturation of the data. Participants’ stories were organized around the three elements of the three-dimensional narrative inquiry space: temporality, sociality, and place. In order to find out temporality, the experiences of participants were explored how past experiences influenced present experiences and led to future changes. Sociality was grasped by exploring how individual experiences are achieved through continuous interaction in situations and social contexts. In addition, we looked at the location of how the place of elementary school influenced the experience of professional counselors in elementary school. The meaning of job stress and coping experiences of professional counselors in elementary school was derived in two ways. First, the meaning of the experience of job stress of a professional counseling teacher in elementary school was derived as ‘question about existence as a professional counseling teacher: disharmony between ideal and reality.’ Second, the meaning of the elementary school professional counseling counselor’s experience in coping with job stress was derived as ‘finding the meaning of existence as a professional counselors in elementary school: being becoming’. This study is significant in that it is the first attempt to explore the meaning of the experience of job stress and coping experienced by professional counselors in elementary school through narrative inquiry methods and provides implications for elementary school counseling and professional counseling teacher systems.

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 전문상담교사의 직무스트레스 및 대처 경험에 관하여 내러티브 탐구 방법으로 탐색하는 것이었다. 이를 위해서 직무스트레스 및 대처 경험이 있는 초등학교 전문상담교사 두 명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 자료 수집 방법은 3회의 심층면담이었다. 자료의 분석이 이루어지는 동안에도 자료 수집이 함께 병행되어 자료의 포화를 확인하였다. 참여자들의 이야기는 3차원적 내러티브 탐구 공간의 3 요소인 시간성, 사회성, 장소성을 중심으로 구성하였다. 시간성을 알아보기 위해 과거의 경험이 현재의 경 험에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 미래의 변화를 이끌었는지 참여자들의 경험을 탐색하였고, 개인의 경험이 상 황과 사회적 맥락 속에서 계속된 상호작용을 통해 어떻게 이루어지는 것인지 탐색함으로 사회성을 파악하 였다. 또한 초등학교라는 장소가 초등학교 전문상담교사의 경험에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지 장소성을 살펴 보았다. 초등학교 전문상담교사의 직무스트레스 및 대처 경험의 의미는 두 가지로 도출되었다. 첫째, 전문 상담교사의 직무스트레스의 경험의 의미는 ‘전문상담교사로서 존재에 대한 의문: 이상과 현실의 부조화’로 도출되었다. 둘째, 전문상담교사의 직무스트레스에 대한 대처 경험의 의미는 ‘전문상담교사로서 존재의 의 미 찾기: 되어가는 존재’로 도출되었다. 본 연구는 초등학교 전문상담교사가 경험한 직무스트레스 및 대처 로 나타난 경험의 의미를 내러티브 탐구 방법으로 탐색한 최초의 시도이고 초등학교 상담 및 전문상담교 사 제도에 대해 시사점을 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
