Today’s 21st century is on the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and at its core lies artificial intelligence technology, or more specifically, generative AI technology. In response, many domestic and international scholars have devised various social and ethical regulations as a countermeasure to AI technology, but this paper suggests that a proper understanding of the nature of AI technology itself should be based on such a series of works. To this end, I will show that Heidegger’s views on the philosophy of technology, especially the core thesis of his later writings, 󰡔Die Technik und die Kehre󰡕, are not limited to the technology of Heidegger’s time, but are also valid for the rapidly developing artificial intelligence technology of today, and conclude the paper by stating the attitude that modern people should take in the face of technology within that framework.

오늘날의 21세기는 4차 산업혁명의 절정을 눈앞에 두고 있으며, 그 핵심에는 인공지능 기술, 더 구체적으로 말하자면 생성형 AI 기술이 자리하고 있다. 이에 많은 국내외의 학자들이 인공지능 기술에 대한 대비책으로 여러 사회적⋅윤리적 규제를 고안해 내고 있지만, 본 논문은 그러한 일련의 작업들 기반에 인공지능 기술의 성격 자체를 올바르게 이해하는 일이 자리해야 한다고 제언한다. 이를 위해 필자는 하이데거의 기술철학에 대한 견해를 담은 그의 후기 저술, 특히 󰡔기술과 전향󰡕의 핵심 논지가 단순히 하이데거 당대의 기술에 국한되지 않고 오늘날 급속한 발전을 거듭하고 있는 인공지능 기술에도 유효함을 밝히고, 그 틀 안에서 현대인이 기술을 마주하여 취해야 할 태도를 언급하며 논문을 마칠 것이다.
