This study aims to reveal that the phenomenon we call “AI hallucination” is nothing more than just a hallucination. Moreover, It argues that the epistemological concept of hallucination cannot be justified if we re-examine it by expanding the scope of thought to the world of common sense, thereby strongly supporting the fact that ‘AI hallucination’ is just a hallucination. Even if the discussion becomes philosophically deeper as the research progresses, I will maintain the perspective of common sense, in which the term ‘AI hallucination’ is used very broadly, and return to this perspective to continuously adjust the level of discussion. Based on this, I will analyze first the everyday meaning of “AI hallucination” and then examines the meaning of “AI hallucination” defined by researchers, then connect the two from an integrated perspective. As a result, it will be revealed that “AI hallucination” is not a term that is quantitatively differentiated and qualitatively defined in a single way. Secondly, I will attempt to infer the core theses of “hallucination philosophy” based on the arguments of naive realism and disjuctivism, which have systematically explored “hallucination”. As a result, it will be inferred that philosophical hallucinations are conceptually impossible. Finally, I will argue that the various explanations of AI hallucinations will inevitably collapse conceptually and ultimately be nullified.

이 연구는 현재 유행처럼 번지고 있는 ‘인공지능 환각’이라는 말이 그 자체 하나의 환각 이상의 것이 아니라는 사실을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 나아가 학술적으로 규정된 ‘환각’, 특히 인공지능 공학자들이 규정한 인공지능 환각 개념과 철학적 환각 개념도 사고의 범주를 상식의 세계로 넓혀서 재조망해 보면 허구에 불과하다는 사실까지도 주장하려 하는데, 그 목적은 방금 밝힌 ‘인공지능 환각’이 환각이라는 사실을 강하게 뒷받침하기 위함이다. 연구를 진행하면서 논의가 철학적으로 깊어지더라도 ‘인공지능 환각’이라는 용어가 범람하는 우리의 생활세계의 시각, 즉 상식의 시각을 항상 견지하여 이 시각으로 회귀하여 논의의 수준을 지속적으로 조정할 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 이 연구는 첫째, ‘인공지능 환각’의 일상적 의미를 분석한 후, 연구자들이 규정하는 ‘인공지능 환각’의 의미를 살펴보고 이 둘을 통합적 시각에서 연결시킨다. 그리고 그 결과 ‘인공지능 환각’은 양적으로 분화되고 질적으로도 단일하게 규정되어 사용되는 용어가 아니라는 사실을 밝힌다. 둘째 ‘환각’에 대해 주제적으로 탐구한 소박한 실재론과 선언주의의 주장을 중심으로 ‘환각 철학’의 핵심논제를 추론해보고 이를 다른 철학적 입장과 비교한다. 그 결과 철학적 환각은 개념적으로 불가능하다는 사실을 추론한다. 마지막으로 두 번째 결과를 다시 첫 번째에 적용하면 인공지능 환각의 다양한 설명들은 개념적 붕괴를 겪으면서 결과적으로는 무화될 수밖에 없음을 주장한다.
