Just as adapting to early childhood education institutions is important when children first start their social lives, freshmen in early childhood education also need to adapt well to university life, a process that requires active coping in academic, interpersonal, and emotional aspects. This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of interpersonal skills on the impact of university life adaptation of early childhood education freshmen on their satisfaction with their major. For this purpose, a survey study was conducted using questionnaires among 541 freshmen from early childhood education departments nationwide. The collected data were analyzed using correlation analysis with SPSS 23.0 software, and three regression equations were used to verify the mediating effect. The analysis showed that there is a positive correlation between the adaptation to university life of early childhood education freshmen and their satisfaction with their major. Additionally, it was found that interpersonal skills have a mediating effect on the relationship between adaptation to university life and major satisfaction. The results of this study suggest that major satisfaction and interpersonal skills are important variables in the process of adapting to university life for early childhood education freshmen.

유아교육과 신입생에게 전공 만족도는 대학생활 적응과 동료와의 원만한 대인관계를 유지 할 수 있도록 도와준다. 본 연구는 유아교육과 신입생의 대학 생활 적응이 전공 만족도에 미치는 영향 에 있어 대인관계능력의 매개효과를 알아보고자 한다. 연구 대상은 전국의 유아교육과 신입생 541명이 다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 23.0 프로그램을 사용하여 상관분석을 실시하고, 매개효과를 검증하기 위하여 세 개의 회귀방정식을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 유아교육과 신입생의 대학 생활 적응, 전공 만족도 간에 정적인 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 대학 생활 적응과 전공 만족도의 관계에서 대인관계능력이 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 대학 신입생들이 원활한 대인관계를 형성함으로써 학업적 성공과 전공에 대한 만족감을 향상시킬 수 있는 효과적인 방안을 마련하는 데 기초자료로 제공될 것이다.
