This paper compares the Buddhist monk Baek Yong-seong, who has a high reputation as a high priest in modern Korean Buddhism, Manilchamseon associations(만일참선결사회) and the Buddhist community of Bongamsa(봉암 사 결사), which has been highlighted as a distinct history in Korean modern Buddhist history. it is writing Various studies have been conducted on the association of Bongamsa Temple, but on the other hand, research on the society of Ikwoncham Seongyeol has been sluggish. Therefore, I conducted this study to explore the historical significance, identity, and succession of the Manilchamseon associations. Based on this premise, I paid attention to the study with the following focus. First, I tried to compare the ideology shown in the rules of the Mangwolsa society and the rules of the Mangwolsa society. To this end, the contents and characteristics of each association were first analyzed. After that, Lee compared the ideology of the two associations. Second, we tried to carry out this comparison based on the 6-ha principle. In fact, the two societies were analyzed with the six-ha principle, which is the concept of grasping events. After that, the content of each association was analyzed as an identity concept. Third, after this analysis, I tried to deal with the issue of succession and the influence of the Iililchamseon society on the Bongamsa society. I introduced Baek Yong-seong and Seong-wol's relationship and Zaun's testimony as clues to him. This point requires more in-depth research in the future. It is hoped that this article by the author who has performed in this way will be helpful for research on modern and contemporary associations, high monks, Bongamsa associations, Manilchamseon associations, Baek Yongseong, Seongcheol, and Zaun.

이 논고는 근대 한국불교의 고승으로 명망이 높은 백용성의 수행, 사상, 지성의 행보를 극명하게 보여주는 만일참선결사회(망월사, 통도사 내원암)와 한국 현대불교사에서 뚜렷한 역사로 부각된 봉암사 결사를 비교한 글이다. 봉암사 결사에 대해서는 다양한 연구가 나왔지만, 그에 반해 만일참선결사회 는 연구가 부진하였다. 그래서 필자는 만일참선결사회의 역사적인 의의, 정 체성, 계승에 대한 문제를 탐구하기 위해 이 연구를 수행하였다. 이와 같은 전제에서 필자는 다음과 같은 초점을 갖고 연구에 유의하였다. 첫째, 만일참선결사회의 규칙과 망월사 결사의 규약에 나타난 이념을 비교하 고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 각 결사의 내용 및 성격을 분석하였다. 그 연후 이는 두 결사의 이념을 비교하였다. 둘째, 6하원칙으로 본 비교를 수행하고 자 했다. 사실, 사건을 파악하는 개념인 6하원칙을 갖고 두 결사회를 분석하 였다. 그 연후는 각 결사의 내용을 정체성 개념으로 분석하였다. 셋째, 이런 분석을 한 후에는 만일참선결사회가 봉암사 결사에 끼친 영향 및 계승의 문 제를 다루고자 하였다. 필자는 그에 대한 단서로 백용성과 성철의 인연, 자 운의 증언을 소개하였다. 이 점은 추후 더욱 심화된 연구가 요청된다. 이와 같이 수행한 필자의 이 글이 근현대 결사, 고승 연구, 봉암사 결사, 만일참선결사회, 백용성, 성철, 자운 등의 연구에 도움이 뒤길 기대한다.
