This paper examines its characteristics with interest in the Ak-Pu of Lee Yong-ki, where urban poetry culture was gathered during the modern transition period. The Ak-Pu, compiled in his later years by Lee Yong-ki, born in 1860, was a collection of poetry created in Seoul throughout his life. Moreover, the poetry works and trends in the Ak-Pu serve as the basis for understanding Seoul’s customs and urban culture in that they clearly show the circumstances of the enjoyment of poetry at the time. Therefore, this article attempted to examine the inner relationship through the works selected and recorded from the perspective of Lee Yong-ki, to read the unique poetry culture of the transition period. In the Ak-Pu, the underlying singing culture of the time when urban entertainment was spreading regardless of the top and bottom remains. On the other hand, Lee Yong-ki recorded the sound culture that can only be heard and seen in cities. He did not let the vulgar sound of urban people who might have been sung on the street slip away. In this respect, the compilation of the Ak-Pu is not irrelevant to Lee Yong-ki's urban entertainment experience. In particular, the solo appearance sijo located in the Ak-Pu, selected from the perspective of Lee Yong-ki, was noted in the modern transition period, showed the taste of sijo enjoyment. The thematic trend and popular aspect of the newly created sijo of the Ak-Pu, which flourished as urban culture, vividly showed the sijo culture of Seoul. An aspect of the sijo culture in the modern transition period, which moved dynamically according to the emotions, preferences, and demands of the people of the time, can be examined through the Ak-Pu. In this regard, the reality of the singing culture in the modern transition period should be discussed by the Ak-Pu.

본고는 근대전환기 도시 시가 문화가 집결된 위관(韋觀) 이용기(李用基, 1870~1934?) 의 『악부(樂府)』(고대본, 이하 자료명만 제시)에 관심을 두고 그 특징을 고찰하였다. 1860년생 이용기가 만년에 편찬한 『악부』는 그의 전 생애 기간에 걸쳐 서울이란 공간에서 만들어진 시가집이다. 게다가 『악부』 수록 시가 작품과 경향은 당대 시가 향유의 정황을 여실히 보여준다는 점에서 서울의 풍류, 도시문화를 이해하는 기반이 된다. 따라서 이 글에서는 도시인 이용기의 시각으로 선택, 기록된 작품들을 통해 그 내적 관계를 살펴보고 전환기 특유의 시가 문화상을 읽어보고자 하였다. 『악부』에는 도시 유흥이 상하를 불문하고 확산해 가던 때의 저변화된 노래 문화가 남아있다. 그런가 하면 이용기는 도시에서만 듣고 볼 수 있는 소리 문화를 기록하기도 했다. 길거리에서 불렸을 법한 도시인의 저속한 소리도 그는 허투루 흘려보내지 않았던 것이다. 그런 점에서 『악부』 편찬은 이용기의 도시 유흥 체험과 무관하지 않다. 특히 이용기의 시각으로 선택된 『악부』 소재 단독출현 시조는 근대전환기 시가 향유의 취향을 오롯이 보여준다는 점에서 주목되었다. 도시 문화가 융성해지면서 새로이 생겨난 『악부』 신출 시조의 주제적 경향과 통속적 면모는 당대 서울의 시조 문화를 생생히 보여준다. 당대인의 정서나 기호, 유흥 현장의 요구에 따라 역동적으로 움직였던 근대전환기 시조 문화의 한 단면을 『악부』를 통해 살필 수 있는 것이다. 그런 점에서 이 시기 노래 문화의 실상은 『악부』로부터 논의되어야 마땅하다 하겠다.
