The purpose of this study was to compare factors of emotional and behavioral problems between children with developmental disability and investigate the interrelationship between motor coordination and emotional and behavioral problems among the children with developmental disability. A total 68 children with developmental disability were assessed using the Korean Behavioral Assessment System for Children, Second Edition for emotional and behavioral problems. The independent t-test was used to assess the differences between children with and without poor motor coordination. The correlations between motor coordination skills and emotional and behavioral difficulties were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Children with developmental disability showed significantly poor scores in internalizing problems (p = 0.007), inattention/hyperactivity (p = 0.001), and in personal adjustment (p = 0.001) among the criteria of emotional and behavioral problems. The MABC-2 composite percentile score of participants showed a significant correlation with internalizing problem behavior (r = −0.388, p = 0.003), inattention / hyperactivity disorder (r = −0.425, p = 0.001), and personal adjustment (r = 0.428, p = 0.001). Our results validated that children with poor motor coordination have more emotional and behavioral difficulties than children without poor motor coordination. Our results revealed that the motor coordination skills have correlated with emotional and behavioral difficulties among children with developmental disability.

본 연구의 목적은 발달장애 아동의 운동 협응력과 정서·행동 문제를 비교·분석하여, 운동 협응력의 차이에 따른 정 서·행동 문제의 심각성 정도를 비교하고 두 변인의 연관성에 대해서 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 발달장애 아동 68 명을 대상으로 한국판 정서-행동 평가시스템(Korean Behavior Assessment System for Chilren-2, KBASC-2) 을 사용하여 정서·행동 문제를 평가하고, 운동 발달 평가 도구인 Movement Assessment Battery for Children, Second Edition(MABC-2)를 활용하여 운동 협응력 부족군 38명과 운동 협응력 정상군 30명으로 구분하였다. 운 동 협응력 부족군과 정상군의 차이를 검증하기 위하여 독립 표본 T 검증(Independent T-test)을 실시하였고, 운 동 협응력과 정서·행동 문제의 연관성을 검증하기 위하여 Pearson 상관 계수 검증(Pearson’s correlation coefficient)을 활용하였다. 발달장애 아동의 운동 협응력 차이에 따른 정서·행동 문제의 차이를 분석한 결과 내면 화 문제행동(p=.007), 주의력결핍/과잉행동(p=.001), 개인적 적응(p=.001),에서 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 학교 문제에서는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 발달장애 아동의 운동 협응력과 정서·행동 문제의 연관성을 분석한 결 과 내면화 문제행동(r=-.388, p=.003), 주의력결핍/과잉행동(r=-.425, p=.001), 개인적 적응(r=.428, p=.001)에서 유의한 상관관계가 나타났으며, 학교 문제에서는 유의한 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구에서 발달장애 아동 의 운동 협응력이 부족 할수록 정서·행동의 문제 척도 중 내면화 문제행동, 주의력결핍/과잉행동, 개인적 적응의 심각성이 높은 것을 알아볼 수 있었다. 이는 특수체육 분야에서 발달장애 아동의 운동 협응력과 정서·행동 문제 연 구 활동을 위한 근거자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
