- This paper analyzes the power structure and the behavior and role of the character ‘Husband’ in Choi Inhoon’s “Once Upon a Time in Huayi Huayi”. In particular, this paper focuses on the conflict process of the stuttering character ‘Husband’ who inevitably kills ‘Baby Jangsu’ and analyzes the piece as a comprehensive artistic genre form, poetic drama. The power structure in this work is explained through Foucault’s ‘disciplinary power theory’ of hierarchical surveillance. Disciplinary power makes the power of the ruling class visible through the gaze of punishment. The tragic action of the ‘husband’ who becomes the ‘subordinate subjectification’ of disciplinary power in the plot can be identified as the ‘reproduction’ of disciplinary power. The theme of the work is the realistic ‘suffering’ and ‘sad parting’ process of the ‘baby Jangsu’ family who ascends to heaven and those who remain on earth. Choi introduces new forms to express these themes. For example, the musical and visual effects, along with the directives, sounds, silences, and props in the work, maximize the tragic sadness of the stage. In addition, the double performance method, poetic images, and fantastic atmosphere using objects are used to complete the genre of “poetry play” as a comprehensive art form. This study can provide new impressions and expanded thinking for readers who have accepted the traditional “baby Jangsu” legend. This paper argues that modern people cannot avoid the inevitable problems of reality, but they must prepare the possibility of an impossible future, and hopes to provide an opportunity for a new understanding of the depth and value of Choi Inhoon’s literature.

- 본 논문은 최인훈의 작품 「옛날 옛적에 훠어이 훠이」에 나타난 권력 구조와 인물 ‘남편’의 행동과 역할을 분석한다. 그중에서도 말더듬이 인물 ‘남편’이 ‘아기 장수’를 불가피하게 죽이는 사건의 갈등 과정을 중심적으로 살펴보며, 이로써 위 작품을 종합적 예술 장르 형식인 시극(poetic drama)으로 분석하고자 한다. 이 작품에 나타난 권력 구조는 푸코의 위계 질서적 감시의 ‘규율 권력 이론’을 통해 설명된다. 규율 권력은 처벌의 시선 방식을 통해 지배층의 권력을 가시화한다. 규율 권력의 ‘예속적 주체화’가 된 ‘남편’의 비극적 행동은 작품의 구조와 플롯 안에서 규율 권력의 ‘재생산’으로 파악될 수 있다. 이 작품의 주제는 하늘로 승천하는 죽은 아기 장수 가족과 지상에 남은 사람들의 현실적 ‘고통’과 ‘슬픈 이별’ 과정이다. 최인훈은 위와 같은 주제를 표현하기 위해 새로운 형식을 도입한다. 예컨대 작품에 나타난 지문, 소리, 침묵, 소품 장치와 더불어 음악적·시각적 효과는 무대의 비극적 슬픔을 극대화하고 있다. 또한 이중적인 공연화 방식, 시적인 이미지, 오브제를 사용한 환상적인 분위기 등을 활용하여, 종합적 예술 형식인 ‘시극’ 장르로 완성한다. 본 연구는 기존의 ‘아기 장수’ 전설을 수용하던 독자들에게 새로운 감동과 의미를 전할 수 있다. 또한 본고는 현대인이 현실의 필연적인 문제를 피할 수는 없지만, 불가능한 미래의 가능성을 마련할 수 있다고 주장하며, 최인훈 문학의 깊이와 가치를 새롭게 이해할 수 있다.

- 한국문예창작학회(The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing)는 한국 문학의 새 지평을 열기 위해 문예창작 이론과 문예교육 이론을 연구 계발하여 문 예창작의 새로운 방향을 제시하고자 조직한 학술단체입니다. 전국 대학과 대학원 문예창작 관련학과의 전·현직 전임교수·겸임(초빙)교수· 강 사·대학원 재학 이상자 및 문예창작인들이 회원으로 활동하고 있습니다. 학회의 목적에 적극적으로 동의하는 문학 관련 단체나 문학창작 동호인도 준회원으로 참 여하고 있습니다. 연 2회 학회지를 발간해 학문적 기반을 닦고 있으며, 정기적으로 학술 세미나 와 해외 문학 심포지엄 등 학술 발표회를 개최하여 학문적 교류와 토론의 장을 넓히고 있습니다. 한편으로, 문예창작 캠프·문학기행 등의 창작교육 활동과 창작 학습 행사를 수 시로 진행하면서, 창작·창작이론·창작교육에 관한 활동의 범위를 넓히고 있습니다. 별도로, 문예창작 교육을 받은 문예창작학도들의 진로 개발을 위해 '문예교육지도 교사 자격 시험'도 운영하고 있습니다. The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing is a pure academic association for the literary cretive writing, and was organized on November 11, 2001 for the purpose of presenting the new direction of literary creative writing by studying all the methods to activate and develop the theories of literary creative writing and its education. Our society is composed of professors or ex-professors, some invited professor, lecturers, graduate students of the dept. of literary creative writing as regular members, and the persons interested in our program as associative members. Our society holds an annual academic meeting-- literary symposium, literary creative writing seminar-- and publishes the journal of our society and our members' anthology of literary works. Added to these, our society has already started a new project to open the way for our literary juniors by providing them with a certificate as a leader and holding a forum for literary creative writing.
