Recently, the automotive industry has been facing rapid environmental changes due to climate change issues, the development of Industrial 4.0 and ICT technologies, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the perspectives of organizational learning theory, behavioral theory of the firm, and network theory, this study analyzes the impact of innovation performance feedback on explorative and exploitative innovation performance of Korean auto parts firms, focusing on the moderating effect of network embeddedness. Based on the empirical analysis of 201 Korean auto parts firms, the results are as follows. First, positive innovation performance feedback (social aspiration level) has a significant positive effect on explorative innovation performance, but positive innovation performance feedback (historical aspiration level) do not has a significant effect on explorative innovation performance. Second, negative innovation performance feedback (historical aspiration level) and negative innovation performance feedback (social aspiration level) both have a significant positive effect on explorative innovation performance. Next, we analyzed the moderating effect of network embeddedness. First, we find a moderating effect of network embeddedness that strengthens the positive effect of positive innovation performance feedback (historical aspiration level) on explorative innovation performance, while it weakens the effect of negative innovation performance feedback (historical aspiration level) on explorative innovation performance. Second, we find that network embeddedness weakens the moderating effect of positive innovation performance feedback (social aspiration level) on exploitative innovation performance. This study provides useful theoretical and practical implications by examining the moderating effect of network embeddedness on the impact of innovation performance feedback on explorative and exploitative innovation performance in Korean auto parts firms facing major environmental changes from the perspectives of organizational learning theory, behavioral theory of the firm, and network theory.

최근 기후변화 이슈, 4차 산업혁명 및 ICT 기술의 발전 그리고 COVID-19 팬데믹 현상 등으로 자동차 산업은 급속한 환경변화에 직면해 있 다. 본 연구는 조직학습이론, 기업의 행동이론, 네트워크 이론의 관점을 바탕으로 혁신성과 피드백이 자동차 부품기업의 탐색적/활용적 혁신성 과에 미치는 영향을 네트워크 배태성의 조절효과를 중심으로 분석하였다. 한국 자동차 부품기업 201개사를 대상으로 실증분석한 결과는 다음 과 같다. 첫째, 긍정적 혁신성과 피드백(역사적 열망수준)은 탐색적 혁신성과에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났지만, 긍정적 혁신 성과 피드백(사회적 열망수준)은 탐색적 혁신성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부정적 혁신성과 피드백(역사적 열 망수준)과 부정적 혁신성과 피드백(사회적 열망수준)은 모두 탐색적 혁신성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 긍정 적 혁신성과 피드백(역사적 열망수준)은 활용적 혁신성과에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만, 긍정적 혁신성과 피드백(사회 적 열망수준)은 활용적 혁신성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 부정적 혁신성과 피드백(역사적 열망수준)과 부정적 혁신성과 피드백(사회적 열망수준)은 활용적 혁신성과에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 네트워크 배태성의 조절효과를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 네트워크 배태성의 조절효과를 검증한 결과 네트워크 배태성은 긍정적 혁신성과 피드백 (역사적 열망수준)이 탐색적 혁신성과에 미치는 정의 영향을 강화시키는 반면, 부정적 혁신성과 피드백 (역사적 열망 수준) 이 탐색적 혁신성과에 미치는 부의 영향을 약화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 네트워크 배태성은 긍정적 혁신성과 피드백 (사회적 열망 수준)이 활용적 혁신성과에 미치는 정의 영향을 약화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 커다란 환경변화에 직면해 있는 자동차 부품기업들을 대상으로 혁신성과 피드백이 자동차 부품기업의 탐색적/활용적 혁신성과 에 미치는 영향을 네트워크 배태성의 조절효과를 조직학습이론, 기업의 행동이론, 네트워크 이론의 관점에서 살펴봄으로써 유용한 이론적, 실 무적 시사점을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.
