Multiculturalism is another issue in modern Korean society. Korean society, which has been a multicultural society for 30 years, is only now emphasizing the importance of multicultural awareness education. Then, there is a need to study how multicultural education is provided to children who will become the mainstay of society in the future, and in particular, what kind of multicultural expression is depicted in picture books that are widely used in education. This study analyzed the myths reflected in the cover images of eight Korean creative picture books that deal with multiculturalism. Looking at the analyzed contents, the first is the importance of the positive attitude of multicultural prisoners. The second was talking about the role society should play in the process of multicultural acceptance. It was possible to understand the role of adults in embracing other cultures as a role in society. Lastly, a warning was drawn that Korean society is indifferent to multiculturalism and that this may lead to social problems. This suggests that social indifference or adult neglect is the biggest enemy of multicultural acceptance. The myth implied in this multicultural picture book did not only emphasize the perspective of the recipient, but also reflected the need for multicultural people to make efforts to improve their own self-esteem. In addition, there was a myth that demanded society's attention so that multicultural children could express such confidence.

다문화는 현대 한국 사회에 또 다른 이슈이다. 다문 화사회로 진입한 지 30년 된 한국 사회는 이제야 다문 화 인식 교육의 중요성이 강조되는 실정이다. 그렇다면 앞으로 사회의 주축이 될 어린이들에게 다문화 교육은 어떻게 이루어지고 있으며, 특히 교육 분야의 활용도가 높은 그림책에서 묘사되는 다문화 표현은 어떠한지 연 구해 볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 한국 창작 그림책 중 다문화를 다룬 그림책 8권의 표지 이미지에 반영된 신 화를 분석하였다. 분석된 내용을 살펴보면, 첫 번째는 다문화 피수용자의 긍정적 태도의 중요성이다. 두 번째 는 다문화 수용 과정에 사회가 해야 할 역할을 말하고 있었으며 타문화를 포용하기 위한 어른들의 역할을 사 회의 역할로 파악할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 한국 사회 가 다문화에 무관심하고, 이것으로 인해 사회문제가 생 길 수 있음에 대한 경고가 도출되었다. 다문화의 긍정 적 수용 과정에 가장 큰 적은 사회적 무관심이나 어른 들의 방관임을 암시하는 것이다. 이렇게 다문화 그림책 에 함의된 신화는 수용자의 입장만 강조하지 않고 다문 화인 스스로 자존감 향상을 위한 노력이 필요함이 투영 되어 있었다. 또한 다문화 아이들이 이런 당당함을 표 현할 수 있도록 사회의 관심을 요구하는 신화가 함의되 어 있었다.
