The purpose of this study is to examine the nature of East Europe's aid to North Korea through socialist state relations during the Cold War. At that time, socialist state relations emphasized mutual cooperation under the name of proletarian internationalism, but in reality, it had a more hierarchical structure under the control of the Soviet Union, which was an informal empire. The manifestation of this was the aid. In conclusion, East Europe's aid to North Korea at that time emphasized brotherhood and international duty and cooperation under the socialist state relationship of proletarian internationalism, but in reality, it revealed the hierarchy of the Soviet Union, which was a de facto empire. During the Cold War, despite the external emphasis on socialist brotherhood, the relationship and aid between socialist countries in reality was an extremely realistic diplomatic relationship of international politics with national interest. In other words, it can be said that realism, pursuing national interest defined by power, was the core of socialist state relations. From this, we can see that regardless of system or ideology, what all countries pursue is national interest, and a country's foreign policy has the top priority of maximizing national interest.

본 연구의 목적은 냉전 시기 사회주의 국제관계를 통해 동유럽의 북한에 대한 원조의 성격을 검토하는 것이다. 이 당시 사회주의 국제관계는 사회주의 형제국가라는 공통의 정체성을 프롤레타리아 국제주의라는 명분을 앞세워 서로 간의 협력을 강조하였지만 실질적으로는 사실상의 제국이었던 소련의 지배하에 더 위계적인 구조를 지녔다. 이것의 발현이 원조였다. 결론적으로 이 당시 동유럽의 북한에 대한 원조는 프롤레타리아 국제주 의라는 사회주의 국제관계를 내세워 형제애 및 국제주의적인 의무와 협력을 강조하였지만 실상은 사실상의 제국이었던 소련에 의한 위계질서를 드러낸 것이었다. 따라서 냉전 시기 사회주의 국가들의 관계와 상호 원조는 외면적으로 사회주의적인 형제애에 대한 강조에도 불구하고 실제에 있어서 국가이익을 염두에 둔 지극히 현실주의적인 외교관계였다는 것이다. 다시 말해서 권력으로 정의되는 국가이익을 추구한다는 현실주의가 사회주의 국가관계의 핵심이었다고 볼 수 있다. 이를 통해 우리는 체제나 이념과 상관없이 모든 국가가 추구하는 것은 국가이익이며, 한 국가의 대외정책은 국가이익을 극대화하는데 최우선의 목표를 두고 있음을 알 수 있다.
