Objectives: To analyze work experiences of nurses working in alcohol addiction treatment facilities, data were collected through focus group interviews. The objective of this study was to identify role conflicts and enhance their adaptive abilities. Methods: This study was conducted from July 1st, 2022 to September 30th, 2022. Twelve nurses working in two alcohol addiction treatment facilities (selected using intentional sampling methods) participated in this study after obtaining their consent for participation and recording. Data collected through focus group interviews were transcribed and analyzed according to qualitative research methods. Results: Three main themes and 17 subthemes categorized into seven categories were found. The three themes were 'doubts about the work itself,' 'confusing role conflicts,' and 'adaptation and competency enhancement.' The seven categories were: 'initial shock of work,' 'work burden due to exhaustion,' 'doubts about the nursing profession,' 'Conflict of roles where one cannot complain', 'adaptation through personal coping methods,' 'regaining confidence in the role of a nurse' and 'support for competency enhancement.' Conclusions: Nurses in alcohol addiction treatment facilities had different experiences of exhaustion and support depending on the hospital culture they worked in. Nurses recognized that having a clear understanding of their roles was more important than anything else.

본 연구의 목적은 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통하여 수집한 알코올중독 치료기관 간호사의 근무 경험을 질적 분석 방법으로 도출하여 간호사들의 역할 갈등을 파악하고 적응 능력을 향상하기 위함이다. 연구 기간은 2022년 7월 1일부터 9월 30일까지 진행하였으며 연구참여자는 의도적인 표집 방법을 활용하여 G시 2개 알코올중독 치료기관에서 근무하는 간호사 12명을 선정하였다. 연구 참여와 녹음에 대한 참여자의 동의를 얻은 후 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 수집, 전사된 자료는 질적연구방법에 따라 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 알 코올중독 치료기관 간호사의 근무 경험 3개의 주제, 7개의 범주, 17개의 하위범주로 도출하였다. 3개의 주 제는 ‘근무 자체에 대한 회의’, ‘혼란스러운 역할 갈등’, ‘적응과 역량 강화’로 분류하였고, 6개의 범주는 ‘근무 초기의 충격감’, ‘소진으로 인한 업무 부담감’, ‘간호직에 대한 회의’, ‘하소연할 수 없는 역할 갈등’, ‘자신만의 대처 방법으로 적응’, ‘간호사 역할에 대한 자신감 회복’, ‘역량 강화를 위한 지지’로 도출하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 알코올중독 치료기관 간호사는 근무하는 병원 문화에 따라 소진 경험과 지지 경험에 차이가 있었으며, 알코올중독 치료기관 간호사의 역할을 이해하는 것이 가장 중요함을 인지하고 있었다. 소진 및 위기 상황 후 간호사 회복을 위한 체계적인 프로그램 운영이 절실하게 필요함을 알 수 있었고 본 연구 결과가 알코올중독 치료기관 간호사들의 적응 프로그램 개발에 공헌하기를 기대한다.
