This paper explores the ethical potential of performative speeches in Park Sol-moe’s novel Future Walking Practice(2021) to deconstruct universal history through an analysis of the unique manifestations of speech found in the work. The distinctive style of the work is embodied in the unique manner of expression of the narrator-character I. Specifically, contradictory speeches manifest as a form of speech where past and present, present and future are intertwined. The I’s present carries meaning as an alternative possibility that someone from the past might have imagined. This perception of time is evident in the manifestation of speeches where tenses are intermingled, demonstrating a performative ethic that fractures the universality of history based on a linear perception of time. Additionally, Future Walking Practice exhibits the aspect of leaping speeches devoid of determinism. Similar to the characters strolling wherever their feet take them, their leaping speeches are open towards encounters with fortuitous landscapes and realizations, extending towards different times, places, and others. Such leaping speeches demonstrate a performative ethic of openness. Lastly, the paper examines prophetic speeches that preempt the future. In the process of repeatedly imagining different futures, speeches with prophetic tones emerge as expressions of faith in the impending future. I overlays the speeches of those who had hopes for abetter future from a prophetic perspective, demonstrating a transcendent performative ethic.

본고는 박솔뫼의 소설 『미래 산책 연습』에 나타난 독특한 발화의 양상 을 분석함으로써 그것이 수행적 발화로서 보편적 역사를 해체하는 윤리 적 가능성을 지닌다는 것을 확인한다. 작품의 특징인 독특한 문체는 곧 서술자인 인물 ‘나’의 독특한 말하기 방식으로, 본고의 각 장에서는 그 말 하기 방식을 수사학적 차원에서 유형화하고 분석하였다. 그리고 각각의 발화 유형이 어떠한 수행적 윤리를 실천하는지를 확인하였다. 『미래 산책 연습』의 모순적, 비약적, 예언적 발화는 소설 속 인물의, 그리고 소설의 수행적 윤리성을 구성한다. 구체적으로 모순적 발화는 과거와 현재, 현재와 미래가 뒤섞이는 발화 의 양상으로 나타난다. ‘나’의 현재는 과거의 누군가가 상상해보았을 다른 가능성으로서 의미를 지닌다. 이러한 시간관은 시제가 혼용되는 발화의 양상으로 나타나며 이는 선형적인 시간관을 바탕으로 하는 역사의 보편 성을 파열하는 수행적 윤리를 보여준다. 또한 미래 산책 연습에는 개연성 없는 비약적 발화의 양상이 나타난 다. 발이 닿는 대로 걸어다니는 인물들의 산책이 우연한 풍경과 만남, 깨 달음을 향해 열려 있듯이 이들의 비약적인 발화는 다른 시간, 다른 장소, 그리고 타자를 향해 열려 있다. 이렇듯 비약적인 발화는 개방성이라는 수 행적 윤리를 보여준다. 마지막으로 미래를 선취하는 예언적 발화들을 살펴보았다. 다른 미래, 즉 다른 가능성을 상상해보는 연습을 반복하는 과정에서 예언적 어조의 발화들은 도래할 미래에 대한 믿음의 표현으로 나타난다. ‘나’는 묵시론적 관점으로 더 나은 미래에 대한 소망을 가졌던 이들의 발화를 자신의 목소 리와 겹쳐놓으며 탈인용성의 수행적 윤리를 보여준다.
