Building on the narrative of the dance artist's life and artistic journey, this study illuminates the entrepreneurial attributes of an artist who forges innovative pathways in the midst of uncertainty. To comprehensively understand the realm of arts entrepreneurship and distill individual artists' subjective experiences into socially significant narratives, the research adopts the ‘narrative inquiry’ method. Following the guidance of Woods (1993), the study employs the ‘narrative analysis method through decisive events.’ Specifically, the narrative analysis delves into the experiences interwoven with the five principles of ‘effectuation’ that punctuate the decisive events in the life of the dance artist. This approach seeks to unravel the entrepreneurial essence embedded in the artist's journey, highlighting their capacity to navigate uncertainty and apply the principles of ‘effectuation’ in creative endeavors. The study's methodology involves a process of ‘talking again,’ wherein the narrative is revisited, interpreted, and reconstructed. Through this dynamic interchange between the artist's perspective and the researcher's interpretation, the study aims to derive the meaning of the dance artist's entrepreneurial experience.

본 연구는 무용 예술가의 삶과 예술 활동 경험에 관한 이야기를 바탕으로, 불확실한 상황에서 자기 혁신을 통해 새로운 것을 창조해 내는 예술 기업가정신의 특성을 조명하였다. 예술가 개인의 주관적인 경험을 사회적으로 의미 있는 내러티브로 재구성해 예술 기업가정신의 현상을 심층적으로 파악하고자, 본 연구는 ‘내러티브 탐구(narrative inquiry)’를 연구 방법으로 채택하고, Woods(1993)가 제시하고 있는 ‘결정적 사건을 통한 내러티브 분석 방법’을 적용 하였다. 특히, 무용 예술가의 삶 속에서 발생한 결정적 사건 중 ‘이펙추에이션’(effectuation)의 5가지 원리와 관련하여 나타나는 유의미한 경험을 중심으로 내러티브를 분석하였다. 이에 연구자의 해석을 포함하고 내러티브를 재구성하는 ‘다시 이야기하기’ 과정을 거쳐, 무용 예술가의 기업가적 경험이 시사하는 의미를 도출하였다.
