The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of art therapist’s parent counseling after treatment session of children with autism spectrum disorder. For this purpose, the researcher interviewed with seven art therapists and thereupon, analyzed the data using the constant comparison method, then discussing the contents and meaning of their experi ences. As a result of analyzing the data, art therapists’ experiences could be categorized into three main categories: ‘parents’ role’, ‘interaction between art therapist and parents’ and ‘counseling environment and structure’. Then, ‘parents’ role’ was divided into ‘parents as clients’ and ‘parents as assistants’, while ‘interaction between art therapist and parents’ could be divided into ‘encounter with parents’, ‘introspection through parents’ and ‘transfor mation of the relationship between art therapist and parents’. Furthermore, ‘counseling envi ronment and structure’ could be divided into ‘burden of treatment cost’, ‘lack of time’ and ‘need for family member’s care’. While counseling with the parents, the art therapists trans formed their fixed roles, while experiencing deeper understanding of themselves, parents, the children. This study may well be significant in that it explored art therapists’ experience s of counseling the parents after the art therapy of the autism spectrum disorder children and that it reviewed the significance and implications. Lastly, it is hoped that this study would provide for some basic data about art therapists’ experiences of parents counseling in the art therapy for the children and adolescent.

본 연구의 목적은 자폐스펙트럼 장애 아동 미술치료사의 치료 회기 후 부모상담 경험을 탐색해보고자 하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 미술치료사 7명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하고 반복적 비교 분석법을 참고하여 자료를 분석한 후 미술치료사가 경험한 부모상담의 내용과 의미를 기술하였다. 자료분석 결과 자폐스펙트럼 장애 아동의 치료 회기 후 부모상담에서 미술치료사의 경험은 ‘부모 역할’, ‘미술치료사와 부모의 상호작용’, ‘상담환경과 구조’의 상위범주로 도출되었고 각각의 상위범주는 ‘부모 역할’에 ‘내담자로서의 부모’, ‘조력자로서의 부모’로, ‘미술치료 사와 부모의 상호작용’에는 ‘부모와 마주침’, ‘부모를 통해 나를 봄’, ‘미술치료사-부모 관계 변용’ 그리고 ‘상담환 경과 구조’에는 ‘부담되는 치료 비용’, ‘부족한 시간’, ‘가족 돌봄의 필요’의 하위범주로 나타났다. 미술치료사들은 부모상담을 진행하면서 고정된 상호 역할을 변용시키며 부모와 미술치료사 자신, 그리고 아동에 대한 이해가 깊어짐을 경험하였다. 본 연구는 자폐스펙트럼 장애 아동의 치료 회기 후 부모상담에서 미술치료사의 경험을 탐색하고 논의를 조명한 데 의의가 있다. 본 연구 결과는 자폐스펙트럼 장애 아동 미술치료사의 부모상담 경험에 대한 이해를 제공하고 향후 아동, 청소년 미술치료 과정에서의 부모상담에 대한 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다
