This study is an autoethnography that describes and interprets the aspects of habitus embodied in the teaching body of elementary school teachers. To understand the teaching body of elementary school teachers, this study used the concept of ‘habitus’ advocated by Bourdieu and attempted to appropriate it in relation to teacher culture and educational practice. Accordingly, this study focused on internalization and externalization in the relationship between the subject of elementary school teachers and the cultural structure of teaching, and based on the philosophical basis of the concept of habitus, Merleau-Ponty's "body schema" and "acquisition of habits," this study attempted to present specific and athletic aspects of elementary school teachers’ habitus. The characteristics of habitus embodied in the teaching body of elementary school teachers were captured around three cultural themes: the rehearsal, the old foundation, and the requested body schema, and each reveals how elementary school teachers become equipped with a teaching body, how their bodies become available for teaching, and what kind of body they are required to have. The rehearsal reveals the value and nature of rehearsals, a teacher's effort to acquire some kind of habit to form a teaching body. In the old foundation, how the teacher's past experience becomes the basis of the class is presented. In the demanded body schema, the tension between the national and educational requirements imposed on the body schema of elementary school teachers is presented.

이 연구는 초등교사의 가르치는 몸에 새겨진 아비투스의 양상이 어떠한지 기술하고 그것에 대하여 해석하는 자문화기술지이다. 초등교사의 가르치는 몸을 이해하는 데 있어 Bourdieu가 주창한 ‘아비투스’ 개념을 활용하되, 그것을 교사 문화 및 교육 실천과 연관 지어 전유(傳有) 하고자 하였다. 이에 초등교사 주체와 가르침의 문화적 구조 간 관계에서의 내면화와 외재화 에 초점을 맞추었으며, 아비투스 개념의 철학적 근간인 Merleau-Ponty의 ‘몸틀’과 ‘습관의 획 득’ 개념을 토대로 초등교사 아비투스의 구체적·운동적 양상을 제시하고자 하였다. 초등교사의 가르치는 몸에 새겨진 아비투스의 특징은 직전실습, 오래된 밑천, 요구받은 몸 틀이라는 세 가지 문화주제를 중심으로 포착되었으며, 각각은 초등교사가 어떻게 가르치는 몸을 갖추게 되는지, 초등교사가 갖춘 몸은 가르치는 데 어떻게 활용 가능해지는지, 또 초등 교사가 어떠한 몸을 갖추도록 요구받는지를 드러낸다. 직전실습에서는 가르치는 몸틀의 형성을 위해 습관을 획득하려는 교사의 노력인 직전실습 의 가치와 성격을 밝힌다. 오래된 밑천에서는 교사의 과거 체험이 어떻게 수업의 밑천이 되 는지 제시한다. 요구받은 몸틀에서는 초등교사의 몸틀에 부과되는 국가적 요구와 교육적 요 구 간 긴장 관계를 제시한다.
