This study empirically analyzed the effect of SMEs' perceptions of ESG needs on dynamic capabilities, focusing on the moderating effect of innovation orientation. The results of the empirical analysis based on the survey data of 120 SMEs are as follows. First, it was found that SMEs' perceptions of ESG needs had a significant positive effect on dynamic capabilities. These results suggest that the more SMEs recognize the need for ESG, the more they can actively collect relevant knowledge and reconfigure the ESG-related knowledge they have acquired, which can have a positive impact on dynamic capabilities. Second, as a result of verifying the moderating effect of innovation orientation, it was found that innovation orientation strengthens the effect of SMEs’ perceptions of ESG needs on dynamic capabilities. SMEs with high innovation orientation tend to solve problems in a different way than before, which can further promote the reconfiguration of ESG-related knowledge. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that innovation orientation can further strengthen the positive relationship between perceptions of ESG needs and dynamic capabilities. This study is expected to present meaningful theoretical and practical implications in that it identified a positive relationship between perceptions ESG needs and dynamic capabilities based on strategic fit perspective and empirically identified that positive relationships between them can be strengthened by innovation orientation.

본 연구는 중소기업의 ESG 필요성 인식이 동적역량에 미치는 영향을 혁신지향성의 조절효과를 중심으로 실 증분석하였다. 중소기업 120개사를 대상으로 실증분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, ESG 필요성 인식은 중소기 업의 동적역량에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 중소기업이 ESG의 필요성을 인식할수록 그와 관련된 지식을 적극적으로 수집하고 자신이 습득한 ESG 관련 지식을 재구성할 수 있기 때문에 동적역량에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 둘째, 혁신지향성의 조절효과를 검증한 결과 혁신 지향성은 ESG 필요성 인식이 동적역량에 미치는 영향을 긍정적인 영향을 강화하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결 과는 혁신지향성이 높은 중소기업의 경우 기존과는 다른 방식으로 문제를 해결하려는 성향을 지니고 있기 때문 에 ESG 관련 지식의 재구성을 더욱 촉진시킬 수 있으며, 이를 통해 ESG 필요성 인식이 동적역량에 미치는 긍 정적인 영향을 강화시킬 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 본 연구는 전략적 적합성 관점을 바탕으로 ESG 필요성 인식과 동적역량 간 긍정적 관계가 있음을 규명하고 이들 간의 긍정적 관계가 혁신지향성에 의해 강화될 수 있다는 점을 실증적으로 규명했다는 점에서 의미있는 이 론적, 실무적 시사점을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
