The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of Dong-A University, a large private university in Busan, on the regional economy in light of the internal and external changes in higher education and the strengthened responsibilities of Universities. The study calculated the production-induced effects, value-added effects, and employment-induced effects by industry based on the final demand (expenditure) of the university. Using the 2015 Regional Input-Output Tables from the Bank of Korea, the primary induced effects were derived, and additional results reflecting indirect effects were examined. The main analytical results are as follows. The economic ripple effect of Dong-A University's final demand on the Busan region shows a production-induced effect of 347 billion KRW, a value-added effect of 178.5 billion KRW, and an employment-induced effect of 2,720 jobs. By industry, the production-induced effect in the real estate service industry was the highest. Taking into account the consumption effect of local residents according to the location of the university, the economic ripple effect was calculated to be a production-induced effect of 444.89 billion KRW and an employment-induced effect of 3,553 jobs. It was confirmed that Dong-A University has a direct and indirect impact on the local industry and economy. The key implication of this study is the confirmation that the performance of a University can be presented as a quantitative indicator. Moreover, it has established a foundation for calculating the economic ripple effects of universities in the entire region in the future, through the derivation of the university's contribution to the local economy.

본 연구의 목적은 고등교육의 대내‧외 환경변화와 대학의 책무성이 강화됨에 따라, 부산의 대형 사립대학인 동아대학교가 지역경제에 미치 는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 대학의 최종수요(지출)가 유발하는 생산유발효과, 부가가치유발효과, 취업유발효과를 산업별로 산출하였다. 2015년 지역산업연관표(한국은행)를 활용하여 1차 유발효과를 도출하였으며, 유도효과를 반영한 추가적인 결과를 살펴보았다. 이에 대한 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 동아대학교의 최종수요가 부산지역에 미치는 경제적 파급효과는 생산유발효과가 3,470억 원, 부 가가치유발효과 1,785억 원, 취업유발효과는 2,720명으로 나타났다. 산업별로는 부동산 서비스업의 생산유발효과가 가장 높게 나타났다. 대학의 입지에 따른 지역민의 소비효과를 고려한 경제적 파급효과는 생산유발효과가 4,448.9억 원, 취업유발효과는 3,553명으로 도출되었 다. 동아대학교가 지역산업 및 경제에 직 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 주요 시사점은 대학의 성과측정 방법을 정량적인 지표로 제시할 수 있음을 확인한 것이며, 대학의 지역경제 기여효과 도출로 향 후 지역 내 대학 전체의 경제적 파급효과를 산출할 수 있는 기틀을 마련하였다는 점이다.
