The purpose of this study is to expand research fields by re-examining the study of social cognitive theory on reasoning of abortion and to provide explanations and interpretations to properly understand the problem of abortion. In general, abortion is considered a moral issue, but Smetana's research shows that individuals identify abortion as a problem that belongs to the moral or personal domain, or as a problem that belongs to more than one domain. Those domain identifications suggest a high correlation with subsequent behavioral choices. In addition, the personal domain within social development is an important factor for individuals to acquire concepts of self, identity, and integrity. External control is predicted to cause serious psychological damage to individuals who consider abortion as a personal problem. In addition, an individual's decision-making regarding abortion has moral meanings for individual rights as freedom.

본 연구의 목적은 임신중절에 관한 도덕 심리학의 사회인지 영역 이 론 연구를 다시 조망함으로써 기존의 담론을 확장할 뿐만 아니라, 임 신중절의 쟁점을 더욱 적합하게 이해할 수 있는 풍부한 설명과 해석을 제공하는 데 있다. 일반적으로 임신중절은 도덕적인 문제로 간주된다. 하지만 영역 이론에 따르면 개인들은 임신중절을 도덕적 영역 또는 개 인적 영역에 속하는 문제 그렇지 않으면 한 가지 영역 이상에 속하는 문제로 식별하고, 이러한 영역 식별은 임신중절에 관한 이후 행동 선 택과 높은 연관성을 나타낸다. 사회적 발달에서 개인적 영역은 개인이 자아, 정체성, 온전성을 획득하는 것과 관련 있다. 그러므로 임신중절 을 개인적 문제로 간주하는 사람에게 임신 유지에 대한 외부의 통제는 개인에게 심각한 심리적 손상을 입힐 것으로 예측된다. 또한, 개인의 임신중절 선택은 자유로서 개인 권리에 관한 도덕적 의미를 지닌다.
