Human beings in modern society are believed to be capable of more than ever before. However, huge and serious problems such as climate change and infectious diseases make us think that the idea that humanity can do everything is arrogance and requires a humble attitude. In this study, previous studies related to the meaning of humility were compared and analyzed. Based on this, it was believed that the definition of humility appropriate for moral education should include an accurate evaluation of oneself, and it was argued that an evaluation of one's strengths and limitations should be carried out together. In addition, it was suggested that teaching the value of humility can contribute to students' learning, is related to existing value virtues, and can also help solve moral problems.

현대 사회의 인류는 과거 그 어느 때보다 더 많은 것을 할 수 있다 고 여겨진다. 그러나 기후 변화 문제, 감염병 문제 등과 같은 거대하고 심각한 문제들을 통해 인류가 모든 것을 할 수 있다는 생각은 오만이 며 겸손한 자세가 필요하다는 것을 생각해보게 된다. 본 연구에서는 겸손의 의미와 관련된 선행 연구들을 비교, 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 도덕 교육에 적합한 겸손의 정의는 자신에 대한 정확한 평가를 포함해 야 한다고 보았으며, 스스로에 대한 강점과 한계에 대한 평가가 함께 이뤄져야 한다고 주장하였다. 또한, 겸손이라는 가치를 가르침으로써, 학생들의 학습에 기여할 수 있고, 기존의 가치 덕목과도 연관되어 있 으며 도덕적 문제 해결에도 도움이 될 수 있다는 점을 제안하였다.
