This study examines the bibliographical analysis and production process of Joseonhwanyeoseungnam, a national traditional gazetteers compiled by Lee Byeong-yeon during the Japanese colonial period, through case studies. Joseonhwanyeoseungnam has been used as a reference material in the academic world, but the data itself has not been analyzed. In this study, the entire production of this data, could not be revealed, but the following research results were obtained through the case area. Firstly, A bibliographical analysis of the transmission of Joseonhwanyeoseungnam, which is currently scattered and stored in many institutions, and a primary list of the holdings are required first. Secondly, Joseonhwanyeoseungnam is known to have differences in epilogue texts by region, and it is necessary to communicate content about differences by item including the epilogue through content sympathy. Thirdly, As in the case of Yeongju-gun, it is necessary to communicate whether there is a migration between towns and villages in the same region and if there is a migration, mutual communication of contents. Fourthly, It should be used as data to clarify the relationship between the characters missing in the existing historical character information and each person by arranging the character items of the corresponding geography, which has increased in volume compared to the existing townships. Finally, After the above-mentioned work is carried out, the entire Korean translation and index should be produced by a consistent system after systematic cataloging and sympathy work. It is judged that the Korean translation of Joseonhwanyeoseungnam will play an important role in studying the Joseon Dynasty.

본 연구는 일제강점기에 이병연이 편찬한 전국단위 전통지리지 ｢조선환여승람｣에 대한 서지학적 분석과 제작과정을 사례를 통해 검토한 글이다. ｢조선환여승람｣은 그동안 학계에서 참고자료로서 활용이 된 것에 비해 자료 자체에 대한 분석은 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 거질의 전국지리지인 본 자료의 제작 전체를 밝히지는 못하였으나 사례지역을 통해 다음과 같은 연구성과를 얻을 수 있었다. 먼저, 현재 다수의 기관에 산재하여 소장되고 있는 ｢조선환여승람｣ 전수에 대한 서지적 분석과 소장 현황에 대한 일차적인 목록 정리가 우선적으로 필요하다. 둘째, ｢조선환여승람｣은 지역별로 서발문자의 차이가 있는 것으로 알려져 있는데, 내용교감을 통해 서발문을 비롯하여 항목별 차이 등에 대한 내용 교감이 필요하다. 셋째, 영주군의 사례처럼 동일 지역의 읍지간에 이본 여부와 이본이 있을시 상호 내용교감이 필요하다. 넷째, 인물 정보가 기존 읍지에 비해 방대해진 해당 지리지의 인물 항목을 정리하여, 기존 역사인물정보에 누락된 인물들과 각 인물간의 연관관계를 밝히는 자료로 사용되어야 한다. 마지막으로, 전술한 작업이 진행되어 최종적으로는 체계적인 목록, 교감작업 이후 일관된 체제에 의해 전체 국역본과 색인이 제작되어야 할 것이다. ｢조선환여승람｣의 국역 번역본은 조선 시대를 연구하는 데 중요한 역할을 점할 것으로 판단된다.
