This paper examined the changes in Gwamun(科文) during the reign of King Sukjong and considered major cases that were controversy and controversial issue in Gwamun(科文). Although there was a lot of controversy over Gwamun(科文)’s style during King Sukjong’s reign, the main controversies and issues related to Gwamun(科文) and Gwamun(科文)’s style at the time can be largely summarized as Gwamun(科文)’s system and formality, Gwamun(科文)'s use of terms, and Gwamun (科文)'s plagiarism. Prior to King Sukjong’s era, the issue of Gwamun(科文)'s system and informal sigwon(試券) being submitted and passed at the test site was controversial, but this problem continued during King Sukjong's era because no clear norms were established. However, unlike before, Sukjong University recognized the problem of Gwamun(科文)’s system and formality more seriously, and if Gwamun(科文)’s system and informal sigwon(試券) passed, it canceled the successful candidate who submitted sigwon(試券) and dismissed the official in charge. Next, even before King Sukjong's era, it was controversial using terms of heresy that deviated from the category of Neo-Confucianism in Gwamun(科文), such as Laozi , Zhuang Zi , and Buddhist scriptures. In particular, during the reign of King Sukjong, the taboo on terms and letters used in Gwamun(科文) was gradually expanded to prohibit the use of direct terms related to bungdang, including Analects StyleHumour and PaegwanSopum(稗官小品), and related provisions were stipulated and regulated in government service appointment. Finally, in the reign of King Sukjong, as the proportion of questions for Gwapyo(科表) increased due to the frequent implementation of chinrimshiexam(親 臨試), problems related to plagiarism of Gwapyo(科表) frequently emerged. At that time, the behavior of easily writing Gwapyo(科表) through plagiarism was prevalent, and the problem of plagiarizing Gwapyo(科表) passing in the actual test site occurred, and various alternatives were prepared in the court as a solution, but in the end, problems and controversies related to Gwamun(科文)’s plagiarism continued even in the reign of King Yeongjo.

본고에서는 숙종대 科文의 변화 양상을 살펴보고 科文에서 논란과 쟁점이 되었던 주요 사례를 고찰하였다. 숙종대 科文의 문체와 관련한 논란은 적지 않지만, 당대 科文 및 科文의 문체와 관련한 주요 논란과 쟁점은 크게 科文의 체제와 격식·科文의 용어 사용 ·科文의 표절에 관한 문제로 요약할 수 있다. 숙종대 이전에도 科文의 체제와 격식을 지키지 않은 試券이 科場에서 제출되고 합격 하는 문제가 발생하면서 논란이 되었으나 명확한 규범을 마련하지 않았기에 숙종대에도 이러한 문제가 지속되었다. 다만, 숙종대에는 이전과 달리 科文의 체제와 격식의 문제를 더욱 심각하게 인식하여 科文의 체제와 격식을 지키지 않은 試券이 합격한 경우 해당 試券을 제출한 응시자를 削科하고 試官을 파직하는 등 강경한 처분을 내렸다. 다음으로 숙종 이전 시기에도 科文에서 『老子』· 『莊子』·佛經 등 성리학의 범주에서 벗어난 異端書의 용어를 사용하여 논란이 되었다. 특히 숙종대에는 科文에서 사용하는 용어에 관한 금기사항을 점차 확대하여 語錄과 稗官小品을 비롯한 붕당과 관련되는 직접적인 용어의 사용을 금지하였으며, 이와 관련한 조항을 『科擧事目』에 명시하여 규제하였다. 마지막으로 숙종대에는 親臨試의 잦은 시행으로 科表의 출제 비중이 높아지자 科表의 표절과 관련한 문제가 빈번하게 대두되었다. 당시에는 표절을 통해 科表를 손쉽게 작성 하는 행태가 만연하였으며 실제 科場에서도 표절한 科表가 합격하는 문제가 발생하였고, 이에 대한 해결책으로 조정에서 여러 가지 대안을 마련하였지만, 결국에는 영조대에 이르러서도 科文 표절과 관련한 문제와 논란은 끊이지 않았다.
