Korea has already quickly entered into a multicultural society due to the rapid increase in the number of foreigners, and accordingly, the government is putting a lot of effort into migrants' adaptation and integration into Korean society. However, it is true that many problems are still exposed. The beginning of this study is to look back on the reality of education for children of overseas Koreans residing in Korea and seek a desirable direction in a situation where the number of overseas Koreans residing in Korea increases and their children also increase. Therefore, in this thesis, the statistics of foreign residents, the characteristics of multicultural education, and the characteristics and vision of multicultural education research schools in Seoul were examined. The background of the establishment of ‘Eoullim Weekend School’, which has been operated for 10 years in the form of public-private partnership, operational characteristics, and bilingual and cultural diversity education were examined. Through this, it was intended to present the right direction for the education of children of overseas Koreans residing in Korea. First, Preparation of an optimized and customized education policy for children of overseas Koreans residing in Korea. Second, multicultural education policy schools should be expanded to middle and high schools. Third, the expansion and operation of bilingual education and cultural diversity education. Fourth, the role of migrant groups is increasing.

한국은 이미 외국인의 급증으로 인해 다문화사회로 빠르게 진입하였고, 이에 따 라 정부는 이주민의 한국 사회 적응 및 통합에 많은 힘을 기울이고 있다. 하지만 아직까지 많은 문제점을 노출시키고 있는 것이 사실이다. 본 연구의 시작은 한국 에 거주하는 재외동포가 증가함에 따라 그들의 자녀 역시 증가하는 상황에서 국내 거주 재외동포 자녀교육의 실상을 돌아보고 바람직한 방향을 모색하고자 하는 것 이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 외국인 주민 통계 및 다문화 교육의 특징과 서울시 다문 화교육 연구학교의 특징과 비전을 살펴보았고, 민관협업 형태로 10년째 운영되는 ‘어울림주말학교’의 설립 배경과 운영 특징 및 이중언어교육과 문화다양성교육에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 국내거주 재외동포 자녀교육의 올바른 방향성을 제시 하고자 하였다. 첫째, 국내 거주 재외동포자녀에 대한 최적화된 맞춤형 교육정책 의 마련이다. 둘째, 중학교와 고등학교 과정에 다문화교육 정책학교를 확대해야 한다. 셋째, 이중언어교육과 문화다양성 교육의 확대 운영이다. 넷째, 이주민 단 체의 역할 증대이다.
