In today's harsh modern society, where the sense of community is gradually weakening and disappearing, and individualism and egoism are prevalent, people desperately feel the need for mental and emotional care. And they expect the church community to meet these needs as well as spiritual restoration. In particular, church members appeal to pastors to provide stable and continuous care. Pastors also fix their identity as a “caring subject” according to the pastoral image that modern people who experience emotional deficiency and mental exhaustion want. In fact, the pastor's identity is bound to be determined not by the pastor himself, but by the desires of the church members. Pastors have the responsibility to actively reflect the wishes and wishes of church members in their pastoral care, and thus must respond sensitively to their needs. If this is not reflected, the meaning and value of pastoral care will fade. However, church members recognize the pastor's sense of responsibility and duty for caring and more confidently demand various levels of caring from the pastor. However, sometimes, due to the church members' excessive demand for care, and furthermore, the demand for neurotic care, the pastor faces conflicts and problems, experiences the confusion of the pastor's identity, and perceives the pastoral care itself as suffering. Seeing these mental mechanisms within pastoral care led me to ask myself these questions: ‘Does the pastor have the duty of fully accepting all the demands of the church members?’, ‘How does the pastor deal with the defenses and resistances experienced during the process of caring for the church members in his or her own life?’, ‘The pastoral community What role and function should it play in order to become a facilitating environment for the mental and spiritual maturation of church members?’ And I wanted to get an answer to this through this thesis. This study has the goal of finding out the distortion of caring that is not difficult to find within the church community, and ways to correct it and move on to mature caring. I hope that this study will serve as a stepping stone for healthy pastoral care practice within the church community for pastors who are experiencing various problems and conflicts in front of the neurotic care demands of church members.

공동체성의 의미가 퇴색되고 개인주의와 이기주의가 팽배해진 현대 사회 속에서 사람들은 정신적-정서적 돌봄의 필요를 절실히 느낀다. 그리고 교회 공동체가 이러한 필요는 물론 영적 회복까지 만족시켜 줄 것을 기대한다. 특히 교인들은 교회 지도자 인 목회자에게 안정적-지속적 돌봄 제공을 요구한다. 목회자 역시 정서적 결핍과 정 신적 피폐를 경험하는 사람들이 원하는 목회자 이미지에 부합되도록 자기 정체성을 ‘돌봄 주체’로 고정시킨다. 사실 목회자 정체성은 목회자 본인에 의함이 아닌 교인들 의 욕구에 의해 결정된다. 목회자는 교인들의 바람과 소망을 목회 돌봄에 적극 반영 해야 하고 그로 인해 그들의 욕구에 민감하게 반응해야 한다. 만약 목회자가 교인들 의 욕구와 요구를 무시한다면 목회 돌봄의 의미와 가치는 퇴색된다. 그러나 교인들은 목회자의 돌봄에 대한 책임감과 의무감을 인지하고 다양한 차원의 돌봄을 목회자에게 요구한다. 하지만 교인들의 과한 돌봄 요구, 더 나아가 신경증적 돌봄 요구로 인해 목 회자는 갈등과 문제에 직면하며 목회자 정체성의 혼란을 경험하고 목회 돌봄 자체를 고통으로 인식하는 위험에 빠지기도 한다. 목회 돌봄 내에 이러한 정신 메커니즘이 있음을 인지한 후 연구자는 ‘목회자는 교인의 모든 요구를 전적으로 수용해야 하는 의무를 가진 존재인가?’, ‘교인을 위한 돌 봄 과정 중 겪게 되는 저항과 자기 방어 욕구 등을 목회자는 어떻게 삶 속에서 처리 하는가?’, ‘목회 공동체가 교인의 인격 성숙을 위한 촉진적 환경이 되기 위해서는 어 떤 역할과 기능을 해야 할까?’ 등의 질문을 하게 되었고 이에 대한 해답을 도출하는 연구를 해야겠다고 생각했다. 이 연구는 교회 공동체 내에서 어렵지 않게 발견되는 돌봄 왜곡의 원인 파악, 그리 고 이를 바로 잡고 성숙한 돌봄으로 나아가게 하기 위한 방법들을 모색하는 목표를 갖고 있다. 언제나 교인 돌봄이 최우선 과제이지만 이로 인해 교인들의 신경증적 돌 봄 요구 앞에서 다양한 문제와 갈등을 겪고 있는 목회자들에게 이 연구가 교회 공동 체의 건강한 목회 돌봄 실천을 위해 도움이 되기를 희망한다.
