This study focuses on exploring the potential educational value of process drama in fostering ecological citizenship. To achieve this, a single case study was conducted. A sixth-grade class from an elementary school was selected, and a process drama program aimed at fostering ecological citizenship was developed, implemented, and analyzed. The program consisted of a total of five sessions, each addressing key questions and qualities related to ecological citizenship. Upon analyzing the results of this single case study, it was evident that the implemented process drama program had a positive effect on the four qualities of ecological citizenship: responsibility, justice, participation, and sustainability. This conclusion was primarily drawn from qualitative data analysis, which included participant feedback reflecting the characteristics of each quality, as well as insights from teacher interviews, open questionnaires, and pre- and post-implementation measurements of ecological citizenship. Furthermore, the study found that the process drama induced emotional empathy for environmentally vulnerable situations and prompted participants to engage in critical reflection regarding environmental issues through dialogical dramatic inquiry. The significance of this study lies in its demonstration of the potential educational benefits of using process drama in ecological citizenship education, particularly at a time when there are limited instances of utilizing theatrical and artistic methods for this purpose.

본 연구는 생태시민성 함양을 위한 과정드라마의 교육적 가치의 가능성을 모색하는 데 주목하고 있다. 이를 위해 초등학교 6학년 한 학급을 선정하여 생태시민성 함양을 위한 과정드라마 프로그램을 개발하 고 실행한 후 분석하는 단일 사례 연구를 진행하였다. 본 과정드라마 프로그램은 총 5회차로 구성되었으 며, 각 회차마다 탐구할 초점 질문과 생태시민성 자질을 균형 있게 배치하였다. 연구 결과, 본 연구에서 시행한 과정드라마 프로그램이 생태시민성의 네 가지 자질(책임, 정의, 참여, 지 속가능성)에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 참여자들의 결과물, 교사 인터뷰, 개방형 설문지, 생태시민성 측정도구의 사전・사후 시행 결과 등에서 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 생태시민성 함양 을 위한 과정드라마의 교육적 가치는 다음과 같이 두 가지로 구현되었다. 첫째, 생태시민성 함양을 위한 과정드라마는 환경적 약자에 대한 감정적 공감을 유발하며, 그들의 필요를 구체화시킨다. 둘째, 대화적 탐구 과정을 통해 다양한 시각을 공유하게 하고, 환경 문제에 대한 비판적 사고를 촉진하며 최적의 대안 을 모색하도록 유도하는 가능성을 보여준다. 본 연구의 사례는 연극 및 예술적 방법을 활용한 생태시민성 교육 사례가 부족한 현 시기에 과정드라마 의 교육적 가치와 가능성을 보여준다는 점에서 의미가 있을 것이다.
