This paper is a study on the moral education method to develop moral creativity in elementary school students. Moral creativity can be regarded as a developmental task that should flourish during the elementary school years. Therefor moral creativity education methods should provide learning opportunities for this purpose to elementary students. Moral creativity is the behavior and attitude of leading everyday creatively. Elementary school students' moral creativity can grow in the process of learning and practicing the values of creative thinking capability, and experience success that is not afraid of failure, passion, immersion, empathy, and hospitality. Accordingly, we have researched the practice of elementary school moral education methods using The Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic poem. The students can experience moral creativity in a direct or indirect methods while reading, interpreting, investigating, and discussing about the odyssey. The results revealed that students demonstrated significant growth in moral creativity after participating in the moral education classrooms.

초등학생들은 도덕적 창의성을 지닌 인재로 성장해야 한다. 도덕과 수업은 학생들이 도덕적 창의성을 실천한 인물을 모델링하고, 내면화 및 실천 활동, 또래 친구와의 성공 경험을 공유하는 과정에서 창의적 가치 그 자체를 기쁨으로 향유할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 이에 우리는 고대 그리스 서사시인 「오뒷세이아」를 활용한 초등학교 도덕과 수업 의 실제를 고찰하였다. 이는 학생들이 「오뒷세이아」를 읽고, 해석·탐 구하는 과정에서 도덕적 창의성을 실천한 삶을 직·간접적으로 경험하고, 그 경험을 기반으로 자신의 삶을 성장시킬 수 있기 때문이다. 그리 고 등장인물인 텔레마코스(Telemachus), 오뒷세우스(Odysseus) 등의 모험과 ‘귀향’ 여정을 통해서 인류가 실현하고자 한 도덕적 창의성의 실천지혜를 배우고 동기화할 수 있다. 특히 난해한 서사시 구조의 책을 읽고, 배움을 공유하는 과정 자체가 도덕적 창의성을 발현하는 기회가 되기 때문이다.
