The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of communication skills and critical thinking disposition on digital citizenship of university students, as an attempt for cultivating digital citizenship in the level of liberal arts education. The results of conducting the difference test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis are as follows. First, in the results of verifying differences in digital citizenship according to personal variables of university students, there were no remarkably huge differences. Second, all the subfactors of communication skills and critical thinking disposition of university students showed significantly positive correlations with the cognitive domain, affective domain, and behavioral domain of digital citizenship. Third, 52% of the cognitive domain of digital citizenship was explained by leading communication of communication skills, and objectivity of critical thinking disposition while 55% of the affective domain was explained by understanding of others’ perspective, leading communication, and overcoming of stereotypical thinking of communication skills, and intellectual fairness of critical thinking disposition. Also, 51% of the behavioral domain of digital citizenship was explained by leading communication and understanding of others’ perspective of communication skills, and objectivity of critical thinking disposition. This study is significant in the aspect of providing implications about how communication skills and critical thinking disposition should be emphasized for cultivating digital citizenship in the level of liberal arts education.

본 연구의 목적은 교양교육 차원에서 디지털 시민성을 함양하기 위한 시도로서 대학 생의 의사소통능력과 비판적 사고 성향이 디지털 시민성에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것 이다. 이를 위해 2023년 5월 1일부터 5월 8일까지 인천광역시에 위치한 4년제 I대학에 재학중이며 신입생 기초필수 교과목 수강자 중 자발적 참여자 226명을 대상으로 의사 소통능력, 비판적 사고 성향, 디지털 시민성 데이터를 수집하고 차이검증, 상관분석, 중 다회귀분석을 실시하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 개인변인에 따라 디지털 시민성에 차이가 있는지 확인한 결과 주목할만한 큰 차이는 없는 것으로 나타 났다. 둘째, 대학생의 의사소통능력과 비판적 사고 성향의 모든 하위요인은 디지털 시 민성의 인지영역, 정의영역, 행동영역과 모두 정적이며 유의한 상관을 보이고 있는 것 으로 나타났다. 셋째, 디지털 시민성 인지영역의 52%를 의사소통능력의 주도적 의사소 통 그리고 비판적 사고 성향의 객관성이 설명해 주고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 정의영 역의 55%는 의사소통능력의 타인관점이해, 주도적 의사소통, 고정관념적 사고 극복 그 리고 비판적 사고 성향의 지적공정성이 설명해 주는 것으로 나타났다. 디지털 시민성 행동영역의 51%는 의사소통능력의 주도적 의사소통, 타인관점 이해 그리고 비판적 사 고 성향의 객관성이 설명해 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 디지털 시민성을 함양하 기 위해 의사소통능력과 비판적 사고 성향이 교양교육 차원에서 어떻게 강조되어야 하는지 시사점을 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
