The purpose of this study is to analyze the adaptation experience of migrant youth who entered public education through transfer to a regular school after completing Korean language classes and verifying their academic background, and to present desirable educational alternatives and directions, focusing on the problems in the process of entry. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews using a qualitative research method to analyze the adaptation experience of migrant youth who entered public education. To this end, we analyzed the adaptation experiences of 5 migrant youth who entered public education, and tried to find a plan for efficient operation of Korean language classes by deriving the meaning of Korean language classes for migrant youth. As a result of the study, migrant youth pointed out the limitations of the learning dimension in the process of entering public education through Korean language classes, pointed out problems in the education system, and the absence of social awareness and support policies, and demanded improvement. To this end, it was proposed to extend the training period, strengthen teacher competency, establish educational infrastructure, and improve educational policies. Through the research, social alternatives and support were suggested to grow as members of Korean society through support for settlement of migrant youth, expansion of career experience and vocational education.

본 연구는 한국어학급을 수료하고 학력 인증 후 정규학교 편입을 통해 공교육에 진 입한 중도입국 청소년들의 적응 경험을 분석하고, 공교육 진입 과정에서 나타난 문제 점을 중심으로 바람직한 교육 대안과 방향을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구는 공교육에 진입한 중도입국 청소년의 적응 경험을 분석하기 위하여 질적 연구방법을 활용하여 심층 면담을 통해 진행되었다. 이를 위해 공교육에 진입한 중도 입국 청소년들 5명의 적응 경험을 분석하고 중도입국 청소년들에게 한국어학급이 지니 는 의미를 도출하여 한국어학급의 효율적 운영 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 중도입국 청소년들은 한국어학급을 통한 공교육 진입 과정에서 학습적 차원의 한계를 지적하였고, 교육 시스템의 문제, 사회적 인식과 지원 정책의 부재를 지 적하며 이에 대한 개선을 요구하였다. 이를 위해 교육 기간 확대, 교사 역량 강화, 교육 인프라 구축 및 교육 정책 개선 등을 제안하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 중도입 국 청소년의 정착 지원, 진로 체험과 직업 교육 확대를 통해 한국 사회의 구성원으로 성 장하기 위한 사회적 대안과 지원을 제언하였다.
