In this study, we will examine bioethical issues, especially privacy, in digital treatment based on the metaverse platform. First, we review the discussion on the the metaverse and the digital twin, which is most expected to be used in healthcare. In a metaverse, human can be implemented as digital twins composed of body data. In the medical field, body data and body derived data are digitized, measured, stored, and analyzed to become a digital twin. These digital twins become tools for new insights to predict, prevent and treat disease. In the digital twin, which accurately reads all human changes and behaviors in real time and replicates it as it is in the virtual world, even the environment and space in which I live are all data. The digital twin, which interacts with the real self as a replica of the real world, show how much privacy is important. Technology sometimes doesn't care about humans. This is also the reason why in-depth discussions that can improve the essential meaning and value of privacy should be started as soon as possible.

본 연구에서는 메타버스 플랫폼 기반의 의료, 즉 디지털 치료에서의 생명의료윤리적 쟁점, 특히 프라이버시를 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 먼저 메타버스와 관련된 내용, 그 중에서 의료에서의 활용이 가장 기대되는 ‘디지털 트윈(Digital Twin)’에 관한 논의를 검토한다. 메타버스에서 인간은 몸에 관한 데이터로 구성된 디지털 트윈으로 구현될 수 있다. 인간을 기술적으로 측정하고 저장하며, 분석하여 디지털화된 데이터로 전환하여 만들어진 디지털 트윈은 질병을 예측하고, 예방하며, 치료하기 위한 새로운 통찰을 위한 도구가 된다. 한마디로 메타버스는 거대 데이터 생태계 그 자체이고, 우리 인간은 그 자체로 데이터가 된다. 인간의 일거수일투족을 낱낱이 실시간으로 정교하게 읽어내어 가상세계에 그대로 복제해주는 디지털 트윈에서는 내가 생활하는 환경 및 공간마저도 모두 데이터이다. 현실세계의 복제판인 디지털 트윈에서 수많은 데이터로 점철되고 있는 나라는 존재에게 프라이버시가 어떤 의미일지 충분히 가늠할 수 있는 대목이다. 기술은 때때로 인간을 배려하지 않는다. 서둘러 프라이버시의 본질적 의미와 가치를 제고할 수 있는 심도 있는 논의가 시작되어야 하는 이유이기도 하다.
