Objectives The positive value of this has been proved in the existing studies in that it prevents students from deviating with respect to the circulation of emotion and the formation of cultural sympathy. However, most K-POP dance classes are conducted in the way that the students copy the choreography which the instructors also imitated, so the distinct teaching method with regard to the target ages is needed in accordance with the characteristics of elementary school students. Methods This study therefore focuses on a case study on after-school K-POP dance classes in elementary school using storytelling method. Results Hence this study was carried out as a qualitative case study method, and for the collection and analysis of data, daily log through participant observation, in-depth interview, and videos or photos from the classes were used to achieve the goal of the study. Conclusions The results of the study on after-school K-POP dance classes in elementary school using storytelling method are as followed. First, the participants’ interest was triggered. Rather than feeling bored when they tried to master the choreography, Second, it enabled the participants to be open-minded in that they were able to participate in constructing creative stories and expressing them in person. Third, it was helpful to active participation in the physical expression activities and the development of self-confidence.

본 연구는 초등학교 방과 후 K-POP 댄스 수업에서 스토리텔링 기법을 활용한 사례를 실시하여 저학년 학습자들 에게 초점을 맞추고 연구 진행하였다. 이에 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 질적 사례연구 방법으로 진행하고 자료 수집 및 분석은 참여관찰을 통한 일지, 심층면담, 수업 동영상이나 사진 등을 활용하였다. 초등학교 방과 후 K-POP 댄스 수업에서 스토리텔링 기법을 활용하여 수업을 진행한 본 연구의 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다.첫째, 학습자들의 흥미를 유발했다고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 학습자 자신이 직접 참여하여 창의적인 스토리를 구성하여 표현할 수 있다는 점에서 열린 사고가 가능함을 알 수 있다.셋째, 신체표현활동에 대한 능동적인 참여와 자신감 향상에 도움을 주었다 고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 K-POP 댄스 수업에서 스토리텔링 기법을 활용한 구체적인 사례를 제시하였으며 이는 기존의 연구들과 차별화된 점이라고 볼 수 있다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 K-POP 댄스 수업에서 스토리텔링 기법을 활용한 사 례의 후속 연구를 위해 다음과 같이 제언하고자 한다. 첫째, 본 연구는 안무의 기술적 능력의 향상을 기대하기는 어 려울 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 초등학교 교육 현장에서 학생들의 창의성 발전을 위한 K-POP 댄스 수업의 다양한 교육 방법이 제시되어야 한다. 셋째, 본 연구에서는 연구자가 스토리를 창작하였지만 국어 교과나 음악, 미술 교과와 같은 타 교과에서 스토리를 차용하는 등, 타 교과와의 연계를 위한 활용적인 연구가 추가적으로 진행될 필요가 있다.
