- Focusing on the functionality of bilingual dictionaries as translation literature, this study confirmed the creation, diffusion and disappearance of translated terms for the concept of ‘communication’ in modern East Asian countries, especially in Japan and Korea. The above research and discussion were conducted mainly on bilingual dictionaries with English, or the guest language, as their headwords. In the future, it will be necessary to supplement these dictionaries more precisely with Korean- English, Chinese-English and Japanese-English dictionaries with headings in the host language, i.e. East Asian languages. In addition, more detailed research in various media, such as newspapers, magazines, novels and editorials, is required.
