This research explores the implications and how moving images are produced when combined with architecture or space. The paper reevaluates the works of Charles & Ray Eames as an important genealogy that combines moving images and architecture. Therefore, in this paper, a creative combination method between architecture and moving images was sought through the Eames' works. The purpose of this research is to prove the value of the production form that combines moving images and architecture, focusing on the Eames' works, and to consider moving image aesthetics. As the method of research, the Eames' Glimpses of the U.S.A. was analyzed. Glimpses of the U.S.A. can be said to be the beginning of the convergence of architecture and moving images and modern immersive media. It is a work that proposes a new form of imagery and information recognition through the expansion of the domain. For the research, the characteristics of the work were examined through the collection, observation, and analysis of visualized data such as photos and videos as well as prior research and literature. First, the main body introduces the "summary and composition of the work" and the aspects of "multimedia architecture," after which the paper analyzes the work in terms of a "multi-screen" aspect. Based on the production method of Glimpses of the U.S.A., identification was attempted with regard to the elements the convergence of moving images and architecture consist of, after which the study presents the creative possibilities of moving image production. As a result of the research, it was confirmed that Glimpses of the U.S.A. represents a convergence of the architectural characteristics of multimedia architecture and the montage aspects of multiple screens. It is expected that this research will provide practical help to multimedia artists as well as filmmakers by examining the format of moving images and media designs and analyzing related techniques.

본 연구는 영상이 건축 및 공간과 결합되었을 때 어떠한 함의를 가지며 어떻게 만들어지는지를 탐구한다. 연구자는 영상과 건축을 융합한 형태의 중요한 계보로서 찰스 앤 레이 임스(Charles & Ray Eames)의 작품을 재평가한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 임스의 작품을 통해 건축과 영상의 창의적 융합방식을 모색하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 임스의 작품을 중심으로 영상과 건축을 융합한 제작 형식에 대한 가치를 증명하고, 영상미학에 대해 고찰하는 것이라 할 수 있다. 연구방법으로서는 임스의 를 연구대상으로 작품을 분석하였다. 는 건축과 영상의 융합 및 현대 실 감미디어의 시작점라고 할 수 있다. 또한 영역의 확장을 통해 이미지와 정보인식의 새로운 형태를 제안하였다. 연구를 위하여 선행연구 및 문헌을 비롯하여 사진, 동영상 등의 시각화된 자료의 수집, 관찰, 분석을 통해 작품의 특징을 살펴보았다. 본론은 먼저 ‘작품의 개요 및 구성’과 ‘멀티미디어 건축’의 측면을 소개한 후 ‘다면영상’의 측면에서 작품을 분석하였다. 의 제작방식을 바탕으로 영상과 건축의 융합이 어떠한 요소들로 이루어졌는지를 파악하여 영상제작의 창의적 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구결과로서 는 멀티미디어 건축이 가지고 있는 건축적 특성과 다면 영상이 가지고 있는 몽타주적 측면의 융합임을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구가 영상 및 미디어디자인의 형식을 고찰하고 그 기 법을 분석하여 제작자들에게 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있는 연구가 되길 기대한다.
