In this thesis, the contents were analyzed in two stages to understand the modern educational value of 『Sa-ja-so-hak』. First, we looked at the relationship between the eight core values and virtues of personality education. It was analyzed whether the contents of 『Sa-ja-so-hak』 correspond to the character education virtues determined in modern society by dividing filial piety, honesty, responsibility, and community virtues into communication, cooperation, respect, consideration, and examples. In 『Sa-ja-so-hak』 we could think of honesty and examples through the reasons for filial piety, the way of practicing filial piety, the mindset and attitude shown in old and old, and the words related to parents, brothers, friends, teachers, neighbors, society, and the state. Second, the use phrase was extracted by comparing and analyzing the contents of elementary moral textbooks. In the 2015 revised moral process, the core values of personality necessary for modern society were set as sincerity, consideration, justice, and responsibility, and in the related area, they were divided into relationships with oneself, others, social communities, and natural transcendence. Accordingly, a total of 24 content elements for each 3-6th grade moral textbook unit were selected (work, honesty, saving, patience, filial piety and friendship, friendship, etiquette, cooperation, public interest and compliance, fairness and respect, unification will and patriotism, love of life and nature, self-regulation, self-reliance and autonomy, cyber etiquette and compliance, sympathy and human rights. For the selected phrases, specific examples of teaching and learning courses were also proposed so that they could be taught in connection with textbooks. In this study, 『Sa-ja-so-hak』 was effective in modern society in terms of personality education, and it seems that it will be able to play a sufficient role as a helpful material in elementary moral classes.

본 논문에서는 『사자소학』의 현대 교육적 가치를 파악하기 위하여 두 단계에 걸쳐 그 내용을 분석해보았다. 첫째, 인성교육 8대 핵심 가치·덕 목과의 연관성을 살펴보았다. 수신 덕목으로서 효, 정직, 책임과 공동체 덕목으로서 소통, 협동, 존중, 배려, 예로 구분하여 현대사회에서 정한 인성교육덕목에 『사자소학』의 내용이 부합하는지를 분석하였다. 『사자소학』에는 효를 해야 하는 이유에서부터 효의 실천 방법, 구사(九思)와 구용(九容)에 나타난 마음가짐과 몸가짐을 통해 정직과 예를 생각해볼 수 있었으며, 오륜을 통한 역할에 따른 책임윤리와 부모, 형제, 친구, 스승, 이웃, 사회, 국가와 관련된 구절을 통해 소통과 협동 그리고 존중과 배려의 내용을 찾을 수 있었다. 둘째, 초등 도덕 교과서의 내용과 비교 분석하여 활용 구절을 추출하 였다. 2015개정 도덕과정의 핵심가치와 관계 영역에 따라 3-6학년군 도덕 교과서 단원별 내용 요소를 총 24가지(근면, 정직, 절약, 인내, 효와 우애, 우정, 예절, 협동, 공익과 준법, 공정성과 존중, 통일의지와 애국심, 생명존중과 자연애, 아름다움에 대한 사랑, 정직한 삶, 감정표현과 충동 조절, 자주와 자율, 사이버예절과 준법, 공감과 존중, 봉사, 인권존중, 공 정성, 통일의지, 존중과 인류애, 자아존중과 긍정적 태도, 윤리적 성찰) 로 정리하고 그에 적합한 구절을 선정하여 표로 정리하였다. 선정한 구 절에 대해서는 교과서와 연계하여 수업할 수 있도록 구체적인 교수·학습과정안 예시도 제안하였다. 이 과정을 통해 『사자소학』이 인성교육적 측면에서 현대적 가치가 있음을 확인할 수 있었고, 초등 도덕과 수업에 서 도움 자료의 역할을 해낼 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
