The development of global pandemics and virtual and augmented reality technology has led to a virtual world where various interactions are possible, creating a metaverse craze that is being utilized in various fields such as business, government, and education. Interest in the metaverse is increasing, but research in the church and Christian fields is still in its early stages. This is because the scope and definition of the metaverse are unclear, and the concept is constantly evolving, making it difficult to set roles, operate, and manage governance. Nevertheless, our society is rapidly changing into a digital society where the boundary between reality and virtuality is collapsing, and people are communicating, building relationships, and enjoying economic life by navigating between two worlds. In such a situation, what changes should the church pursue? If it persists in traditional pastoral methods, the church will lose its spiritual influence and become marginalized over time. Therefore, the church should become the agent of transformation in the rapidly changing world, changing its pastoral structure and becoming the subject of God's mission through spiritual and social life. We must live a missional life with hope, breathing in the midst of a changing world.

글로벌 팬데믹과 가상 증강 현실 기술의 발달은 가상 세계에서 다양한 상호작용이 가능한 메타버스 열풍을 일으켰으며, 기업, 정부, 교육 등 다양 한 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 메타버스에 대한 관심은 점점 높아지고 있지만, 교회와 기독교 분야의 연구는 아직 초기 단계에 놓여 있다. 그 까닭은 적용 범위와 정의가 불분명하고 개념이 계속 진화하고 있기 때문이며 역할 설정, 운영과 관리 등 거버넌스에 많은 어려움이 있기 때문이다. 그럼에도 불구하 고 우리 사회는 현실과 가상의 경계가 무너진 두 세계를 넘나들며 소통하고, 관계를 맺고 경제적 삶을 누리며 살아가는 디지털 사회로 빠르게 변화되고 있다. 이런 상황에서 교회는 어떤 변화를 추구해야 할까? 과거 전통적인 방 식의 목회를 고집한다면 시간이 갈수록 교회는 영적인 영향력을 상실하고 주변화될 것이다. 급변하는 시대에 맞게 변혁의 주체가 되어, 목회 구조를 바꾸고 영적, 사회적 삶을 통해 하나님의 선교 주체가 되어야 한다. 변화하 는 세상 가운데 살아 숨 쉬는 소망으로 선교적 삶을 실천해야 한다
