The study was an art group created by Korean nurses dispatched to West Germany and defectors from North Korea. The two groups had different migration periods and destination countries, but the purpose of inheriting and developing the traditional dances of South and North Korea was similar. In the early days of the two arts groups, they started to develop friendship by promoting the traditional and arts of South and North Korea. However, as these organizations gradually developed into dance or art groups, differences arose in the management of members, works, and composition of performances due to the migratory social environment they faced and the purpose of performing activities of the members. In particular, in the case of Korean dance groups can exchanges with South Korea, traditionality and expertise are secured through exchanges with the South Korean performing arts community, while expertise and competitiveness are enhanced through videos of North Korean defector art groups that have been cut off from exchanges with North Korea and employment of South Korean dancers. wanted to secure. And while members of Korean dance groups in Germany recognize as part of leisure activities through stable economic life as nurses, North Korean defectors consider as a livelihood or sideline economic activity.

이 연구는 파독간호사와 북한이탈주민이 만든 예술단체를 연구 대상으로 하였다. 두 집단은 이주 시기, 이주 대상 국가는 다르지만, 남한과 북한의 전통무용을 계승하고 발전시키고자 하는 목적은 비슷하였다. 두 예술단체 모두 초기에는 남한과 북한의 전통 공연예술을 알리며 친목을 도모하는 차원에서 시작되었다. 그러나 이들 단체는 점차 공연 중심의 무용단 혹은 예술단으로 발전하면서, 이들이 처한 이주사회 환경과 단원들의 공연활동 목적의 다름으로 인해 단원 및 작품관리와 공연구성 등에서 차이가 발생하였다. 특히 남한과의 교류가 가능한 독일 한인무용단의 경우 남한 공연계와의 교류를 통해 전통성과 전문성을 확보하는 반면, 북한과의 교류가 단절된 북한이탈주민 예술단은 동영상, 남한무용수 고용 등을 통해 전문성과 경쟁력을 확보하고자 하였다. 그리고 독일 한인무용단의 단원들은 간호사라는 안정적인 경제생활을 통해 무용단 활동을 여가활동의 일환으로 인식하는 반면, 북한이탈주민 단원의 경우 예술단 활동을 생계 또는 부업의 경제 활동으로 간주한다.
